Ornaments

This might be a strange question, but i'm wondering about something in particular.

When you fight a mob, as a sin you get to get up close and personal.
Some mobs are ranged / do elemental damage. But when you get close, they bash you.

My question is as follows : Is it better for a sin to have more Pdef trough ornaments, since you get close, or should a sin be "balanced" and also have good Mdef ?

I'm used to a high Mdef cleric, and while fighting with my sin, i noticed that up close Pdef ornaments might be a better choice.

Asking this because usually i try to lure a mob (knife throw) then move close fast to kill fast. Their element dmg doesn't seem to bother my toon, but their bashing/hitting does. Especially when a second one pops up next to me.

It's more a question of physical defense versus HP shards. I lean more towards 75% citrines/25% garnet shards, but people who can afford to refine their gear heavily can obviously place more garnet shards in their gear, and just refine magic ornaments to make up the difference.

Conversely, you could shard all HP and refine physical resist ornaments.

well i would prefer garnet over citrines. they don'T give as much hp as u would need fighting. dmg in pve and pvp is still damn high(we are squishy) but if u get pdef. we can use our bloodpint better since u can recover more hp that way,duo recieving lesser dmg

Mostly shard HP, pdef shards are pretty useless for pvp. Maybe for pve.. but at higher levels I'd stick to HP. Ornaments? Whatever ones exist at your level that give good bonuses. Mantavip belt, Viper's seal, Equine Talisman, SD pearl, Demon slaughter belt, etc. And endgame I'd say 2x Lionheart, interval ftw.

To the OP: go why Pdef ornaments, since Sins are pretty squishy. At your lvl, if you have sockets, shard with garnets. once you hit the 60s, you can start mixing your ornaments, since mobs in that range start mixing m atks into their atk routines. Twas very annoying when i went thru those quests as a bm.

Phoenix, the OP is a Sin, sins have less p def than Bms. xD Tho your idea about refines was a good one.
Irritate: where in the OPs post was he/she asking about pvp? He/She wasnt asking about endgame, or PvP. He/She was asking about fighting mobs their lvl. Not everyone can afford to get Legendary Ornaments.

Well as the OP i have to say this :

    I don't pk.Ever.

As for ornaments : i aim to get dual Rage of Crixalis rings. I Shard nearly ALL my gear with citrines (cape excluded), thus will probably go with Pdef belt/pendant as has been suggested to get more Pdef.

In my opinion, going with legendary gear according to your own lvl whenever possible will yield the best defensive results.

As most of the time i am HP charmed, i prefer it not to tick to much so i go with citrines and not garnets. Pdef might be good, but not without the neccesary hp to survive.

Uh even if you're not into pvp, what I said still works. Legendary ornaments are really cheap, molds cost like 200-300k on my server, which is nothing considering you can farm/sell mats for 4k each. The mats needed for the manufacturing can be farmed as well... and by the time you're 86/87 you should easily have enough money to get a pearl/demon slaughter belt. And for 99+, you can take your time farming hh99, either way the interval is still what you want to get.
Wondering how much longer these **** packs are going to be around.

Phoenix, the OP is a Sin, sins have less p def than Bms.

At higher levels, I'd be far more concerned about Tempest, Undine, and BIDS than I am about a BM getting in a zerk crit, but most of my PVP experience comes from TWs which are a different creature entirely than open PVP. LA sort of gets the short end of the stick when it comes to defense, as 9x archers can tell you.

If the OP is talking about PVE only, then I'd actually advise going with full p.def shards and physical resistance ornaments, getting additional HP from refines and gear add-ons, since we have numerous skills that easily shut down caster mobs. PVP is obviously going to be set up differently, since LA is really mediocre for defense on either magical or physical fronts, meaning we'll always be lacking in one area no matter which ornaments we go with.
