Ventrilo: Push to talk

Hi guys, it's me again.. :)
This time i wonder something about ventrilo talking while in game.. I can be in ventrilo but I cant talk to them unless I do not have push to talk. I asked this in my guild the other day and they said it was because of the button i'm using.. Right now i'm using "Caps lock". If it is that then what buttons can i use?

    I've been using ventrilo with PWI for a very long time, and have been using the "z" key for push to talk forever without any problems. It doesn't share any function with PWI so it works out well. For me, atleast.

    I've heard of this problem before. Are you fullscreen or windowed? I had friends that could only do it if they were on windowed mode. It has nothing to do with which key you use.

    me set the command to
    "caps lock"

    since me communication system be set to use "normal" human speak
    and be not affected by that.

    I've always found that {Caps} causes me to0 shout at people in game by making my typing funky....

    PTT as a Z Key is OK but if you use a word with a Z in it it may annoy Vent users

    I found (As did my friends)

    Grave Key ~ is upper left on the keyboard and works well (No shift required)
    And TAB on my Laptop works well.

    While I hope this advice helps I doubt its the problem your encountering.

    Um....the Grave key rotates the 1-9 bar, and the Tab key auto-targets the next closest mobs...not the best for PWI b:shocked

    I use left Ctrl just fine. The only problem is if I press it and press another letter at the same time it clears my chat box, but I just let go to press a letter key. >_>

    Are you running your Ventrillo in administrator mode? That fixed it for me.

    Well, nowadays you can remap your in-game keys to avoid clashing with pwi functions.

    I've set up PTT on an extra mouse button though - if that's an option for you it's a good one.

    mm i have also been using vent for a long time.
    my PTT key is the left ctrl and never had any probs with it. b:laugh

    have no problems with vent on windows xp but windows 7 i cant talk unless it is on top of the game or push to talk is off. someone in my guild mentioned a few other people on windows 7 having the same issues. if you are running win7 that might be the problem as well

    See that little scroll button on your mouse? Set it to there xD

    Most convenient place to have it, imo

    I used ] for Arrow key games and caps or left ctrl for wasd games :D
