Lunar Summon Bosses

Those of us that run Lunar may have noticed an NPC at the end of each valley that relates to a specific class. Say, in my case, an archer. In short, these NPC's are used to summon bosses that drop the molds to make special Lunar items. The drops are:

Ancient Ring Mold
Ancient Necklace Mold
Ancient Helm Mold

(browse pwdatabase if you want to see the cool stuff they make)

In addition, these bosses drop Immaculate shards, Essense Crystals, Transparent Crystals, Fragment Crystals and the obligatory Mirage Celestones :/

The bosses are:

Name (Class) [HP]
Herald of Agony (Blademaster) [6M]
Foretoken Bearer (Wizard) [3M]
Knight of Terror (Archer - woot!) [4.5M]
Bloodsurge Ultera (Cleric) [3M]
Infernal Sonikbeast (Barb) [9.1M]
Lunaweaver - Crimson (Veno) [4.5M]

You may notice that the HP of each boss seems relative to the class that summons it, with squishes at 3M and barb at over 9M. The attack power also seems relative to the summoning class. You can see those on pwdatabase, however I have NO IDEA what skills they may use. Also, I did not order the bosses by valley, so may want to look that up before charging in.

Now you're asking yourself "Self, how do I summon such an awesome boss?" Well, I'm gonna tell ya. In short, the ability to summon these bosses is actually a reward for completing a rather long (timewise) series of quests, that go as follows:

Alone in the Valley (Kill 5 Shoveals) -> Valley Entrance (8 part) -> A Suffered Soul (7 part)

Alone in the Valley is the quest that turns on Single mode for you to run in Lunar. Upon completion, another NPC at the entrance will have the Valley Entrance quest. When that line of quests is done, you will receive an item called Talisman of the Glade. This item will transport you directly to the Grayhaired Man INSIDE Lunar (located near the first 'special' boss entrance). You should now be able to pick up the quest A Suffered Soul from him. The quest reward for that quest is an item called Invitation to Purgatory. It is this item that should allow you to summon the new bosses.

From what I see the item should be used up when summoning the boss, and then a new one given immediately like with the Chrono Key when traveling back in time.

It should be noted that the A Suffered Soul quests requires you to kill BOTH Relic of Wind and Primal Fear. Both are in the last valley, and both are pretty damn hard. Also, you can only do one boss per Lunar run, and with each run being 6-10 hours you can see why I say this is a long line of quests timewise. So good luck, and have fun!

I should also point out that I have yet to finish these quests and prove it all, so don't rail on me if doesn't turn out exactly as I have here. lol

Hope this helps. Hit me up in-game if you have more questions.

Might not be the place to ask, but i got a question you guys might be able to answer, since you apparently ran that before b:victory
I was in a squad when i got ported to the greyhaired guy with my talisman. The squad broke and i got ported out before i could take "A suffered soul". So now my talisman is gone, and i can't seem to find a way to the insularum valley in solomode.

    So,
    1. Is Insularum only reachable in squadmode?
    2. If it's also in solomode, how do i get there?
    3. If it's only possible with the talisman, am i screwed now? b:shocked
    4. If so, would it do me any good to send a ticket?

    Thanks in advance :] b:thanks
I'll get a sig when i need one...

There is no single mode for Insularum sadly, however if you have neo deity scrolls you can still summon the bosses from that valley. Just not shoveals.

I believe you get the quest for a suffered soul from someone outside of Lunar if I recall correctly. Though I am not 100%. I know he gives you a quest for the lady which appears, but after that you have to talk to someone outside of lunar for another part of the quest.

And if part of it is messed up or glitched, I would try it again if you can. If you can't get the quest still, then yes I would submit a ticket =) Hope some of that helps ya.

A Suffered Soul does indeed start with the Grayhaired Man. However, River is right that there are parts outside of Lunar to complete. At first though a ghost will summon next to the old man and you'll get a necklace piece. If you have no part of A Suffered Soul in your quest log, then sadly you will probably have to reach him in squad mode now. Not terribly bad since it's the second valley. But the Shoveals are a real pain. Try to get in on a squad that is doing the Shoveal quests and you should be fine.

Thanks a ton for your replies, i do appreciate it.

Well, i guess Squadmode it is then... and while the Shoveals are annoying, they are doable, i just wasn't sure whether it was the same NPC...
Single and solomode are like different instances the way i understood it, but if he can give out the quest in Squadmode then everything's fine.
I'll get a sig when i need one...

after a long long time i seem the first one to poste something here again and i realised how much PWI changed over less than 2 years. In summer 2010 they talk of 6-10hours for a lunar run... now with the OP rank gears it's 1 till max 2 hours! i'm not sure wether i should think it's awsome or not b:surrender
