I can't attack!

I just started and while I was fighting those purple plants I was "unable to attack"! What is this? How can I attack again? please help!

    What class are you?

    If you're an archer, do you have arrows equipped?

    If not, is your weapon fully repaired? Mouseover the weapon in your inventory and see what the Endurance is at.

    He just started so hopfully his weapon isnt broken already lol.

    give us a better explaination such as, what class you are or, what button you press when your character was in auto-attack? For an example, when i use rib strike on this character, he stops auto attacking so, i have to click on the monster again to start back up.
