Hello everyone, I've just built a new computer few days ago and i was wondering about the low FPS i get at certain places. example, i get almost below 20 FPS at West District Archosaur, or in Pvp / TW around 14~17 FPS.
As you can see those FPS are quite almost unplayable.
Take Note: all the settings are set to low, like literally low no effect or anything is on.

So i wanted to know if there is anything i could do to help me get more better FPS at those places because those are the only places where i get below 20 FPS other than that i get around 40~80 or even more FPS depending if lesser people around.

Here is my computer specs:

OS:Windows XP 64 bit Service pack 1
CPU: Intel(R) Core 2 Quad Q8400@2.66Ghz
8 GB RAM
Video Card: GeForce GTX 295
Desktop running at: 1280x1024 (32bit) (75Hz)

Try disabling any special features turned on in the ATI Catalyst control Panel.

I've turned off all those special features on ATI contron pannel,

    these are my settings

    Anti Aliasing: use application settings
Anti Aliasing Mode: all to performance ( Multiple Sample AA)
    Anisotropic filtering: use application settings
    Catalyst A.I : disabled
    MipMap detail level: high performance
    Triple Buffering: unchecked

And yeah the video driver is up to date.

so since there is no other way but to overclock for a little more performance, i was wondering if i would replace this card with an XFX GTX 295 1792mb GDDR3 video card help me get atlease 40+ fps at those places and a min of 30 fps with fraps recording?
    any idea on this? i use a P5Q-VM MOBO with Core2Quad Q8400 @ 2.66Ghz

and yeah and i dont really care about the graphic set to very high or not, i will set it extreme low as long as i can get that FPS. all i want is good playable FPS.

me suspect overclocking won't get you very far as me has weaker hardware components then you has yet don't really lag in west arch. (me duel there just for fun and laugh when people run right past me)

try turning off in game effects in the system tab in game.
<---also only care about performance.....FPS background For teh win~

Yeah, Ive turned down all the effects in game on the system tab, yet i get around 12~15 FPS max at West District. how much FPS do you get? and what card are you using? and yes i don't think im going to overclock this card for just 20% more boost. I'd rather get the XFX GTX 295 from nvidia since thats the best card they are offering at the moment. because this game is really hiting hard on my HD 5750 1GB at those places lol.

And also 1 more question: is anyone else also using GTX 295 and can confirm the performance they get with this game?

So, i got myself a GTX 295 XFX from nvidia and overclocked the CPU from 2.66Ghz to 3.20 Ghz, and i still get 14-17 fps at west district and TW, drivers are up to date. like seriously what the hell is the problem can anyone figure this one out for me?
Edit: and yes everything is at the lowest settings possible,1024x768 window mode.

lol wow...you do realize that buying that 295 you are actually DOWNGRADING, right?

and the issue isnt really our systems..its the graphics engine the game is using.
it isnt designed to take advantage of multi-core processors and newer graphic cards.

a friend of built an Intel Pentium 4 machine with an older NVIDIA GeForce 4 to run the game and it runs flawlessly. Kinda of dumb imho. You would think that they could upgrade the engine..but thats the main reason why I quit this game. Having a high end rig and not getting the fps we should all be getting gets old after a while.

What? The GTX295, even the 285 & 275 cards blow away the ATI. You might look here:

    http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2009/11/06/sapphire-ati-radeon-hd-5750-1gb-review/5

The GTX295 is faster in virtually every benchmark, sometimes by as much as three times.

For the OP, I'd suggest you look in your nVidia Control Panel and where it says "Manage 3D Settings", scroll down and find "Vertical Sync" and set it to "Force Off".

Or you can leave it and try turning off the V-Sync in the Perfect World "Settings" from the launcher, the window you get before you start the game.

Yup, I've tried that too. the nVidia Conrol Panel has everything set for higher performance and the vertical sync is ''forced off'' and its the same situation still..Im seriously running out of ideas now lol.

@Angelictj: no the 5750 blows.. lol but i thought it should be enough to run this game, that is why i bought that card in the first place, and now changed to GTX 295 thinking it would improve.

I Actually get around 115-130 FPS where there is no people or like 7-10 people. but as i start reaching areas like West District it goes as low as 10-17 same thing in TW or in PvP where there is too many people. Maximum I've seen my FPS go in TW is 20. Of course it would improve where there is lesser people but seriously the kind of hardware I'm using I'd expect at lease minimum 30 FPS in those situation lol since everything is set to low and turned down all the effects.

@nasty: I use a radeon 4850, e2140 (1.6ghz dual-core) OC'ed to 3.1Ghz, and 8gb ram on vista. During TW's I set everything except distance to low to get the most out of my setup since recording with fraps hits my system hard.
    -Transcend

as you can see the above quote is from a EA from my server Lost City
and he gets flawless fps while recording with fraps in a TW / PvP situation.and that's his system.

so if he can get such high FPS with that system, i don't understand whats up with mine lol

I have the gtx 280. I turn on all HIGH settings but for trees and herbs/flowers because then i can't find the mats.. and play at 1920x1080 resolution. The only place I really lag is arch. Before... when the PERFORMANCE SWITCH worked i would change to low quality in arch and didn't lag one bit. How much ram do you have? processor? Free space? Maybe a trojan/virus?

    8 GB RAM

This ↑ , I set everything to low during (no effects or anything on) PvP and TW and i get around 14-17 FPS depending on the amount of people.

You seem to know PC stuff pretty well so I'll go straight to the point:

Are you using the very latest DirectX version?

Are you using Intel drivers for SATA and chipset or the ones that came with Windows (assuming your motherboard has Intel chipset, but could be nVidia, SiS, Via...)?

    Any non-essential application running?

Hard disk fragmented? Swap page enabled?

Memory settings not below specification in BIOS?

Yeah, same issue here, but my rig is not as good as yours.

But as you may see, the problem is in somewhere else, not about clocks and memos on your GPU...
Try using ATI Tray Tool and try looking at your GPU usage in crawded places.

At least on your ATI card I bet you will see the usage drop to smth like 10-20%...even though there is no noticeable bottleneck (CPU will be in low usage too, there will be alot of RAM free, and your HD won't be working that hard...)

There is smth I would like to try, but I don't have the proper hardware to do it. Since you have a Nvidia card, you could test.

I read somewhere about PW using PhysX effects. Dunno if it's true, but enabling PhysX support for your Nvidia card on control painel could solve the problem.

When you play a game that uses PhysX but your GPU is not supporting it, your CPU will try to make all the calculation. But as you might know there is no way a CPU could do it as fast as a GPU...not to mention that PhysX codes are not multithreaded so there is no gain using on a quadcore computer =/

Well, as I said, that's just a guess. Once I don't know if it really uses PhysX...
Sry if I'm saying smth wrong, but the symptoms (at least on my system) are exactly the same as ppl use to report when runing a game that really uses this feature, and has to calculate by CPU...
Not to mention that I've been looking for FPS issues on PW...and this kind of problem is usually reported with ATI cards (only Nvidia supports PhysX).

Ok I talked too much :(
Try enabling PhysX on your Nvidia GPU and tell me if there is any difference please ^^
    Good Luck!

Tried this..still same thing though, i never disabled that setting on the control pannel. I've been actually looking at the CPU usage when im at west with tons of people where i get low FPS, and the CPU hardly reaches like 20-25% usage. So i dont think this is some kind of bottleneck either and i really cant figure out where the problem is lol, Getting 15 FPS at west is pretty ridiculous with such decent rig not just west district though, even TW or where there is tons of people, yet there are few people getting higher FPS with much worse rigs. I seriously don't understand how..

So we pretty much have the same problem and I also ran out of options...
I've already tried everything I could as well...

Have you already tried sending a ticket as suggested?
I guess it's the last choice...

    Good luck

Well..I've researched a lot on the internet about this problem but still cant figure out why im getting low fps, I've tried a lot of tweaks still nothing. Now im starting to wonder could this be a internet bandwidth issue here? Since im using Wireless Connection at the moment with just 3mb/s speed. I've heard people saying bandwidth could cause the FPS problems which im having. The FPS just drops at the places where there is too many people to as low as 10~13, but as soon as i go to a place where there is no one around or like 5~6 people i get around 130+ FPS. this is with all the settings set to very low no effects on.

Also some people suggested to reinstall the game completely after installing a new hardware so it can detect the newer hardware installed and not pick up the old one again, could this be the problem too? Although i have 8 Gigs of RAM on the PC the launcher still shows 2048 MB as my RAM on the settings TAB. I really don't know why. And by the way It's only this game which is having the low FPS problems, the rest of the games which require a very good hardware run all flawlessly with 50~70 FPS at everything maxed out.

Needs suggestion badly.. I've actually upgraded my PC just to get good fps in this game with mass PvP/Tw and i get this bad fps. Its almost no difference than my older PC.
