Friend levels dont show in Friends window

Hi, i've come across a problem and i dont know if this is a normal thing or not, but in my friends window i have 2 friends which, when i hover over their name, show me their levels, and another 10 or so which are unknown. even when the friends with unknown levels log in, it still says that their levels are unknown. and it also says that position is unknown for all of them as well.

is there something i have to do to get the levels to show?
