Am I wasting my time?

My assassin Does do decent damage but is squishy and I noticed my psychic friend is doing way better than me in terms of damage and stuff. I'm about to hit lvl 30 soon and was wondering if I should just stop because everyone is saying assassins will get whooped in pvp and I don't want to be getting killed all day.

if ur worried a bout squishyness then no sin is NOT for u. go with BM or a barb.
btw, heres something to help u out a lil bit if u still want to play ur sin...

it doesnt help much in the long run, but it is something to help against certain mobs for the time being.0 -
Squishyness is not my concern rly. My problem is keeping up with the other classes in terms of damage output as well as disabling or dodging their attacks enough to be able to not completely suck XD (and to keep up w/ pvping)0

rly? i kill most mobs in less then 7 seconds. u must be running a vit build or something o-o. and my crits are 2.5k with rib strike and 2.4k with slip stream. with the spark and wolf emblem is nearly 3k crits. i cant see how any sin have problems with dmg output unless there a vit build.0 -
I said my damage output was decent, im just talking about later in the pvp lvls (30+) because if an assassin isn't good at lvl then something is wrong! (lol a vit build, yeah right. im not that stupid XD)0
-
They just came out ffs. Wait till there are non-oracled 9x sin running around.0

EDIT: Thought I'd mention my credentials; if all I have to offer is I have an 82 cleric and my assassin is gg, then my opinion doesn't count for much. It still might not, but at least I'll try:
Played EverQuest since 2002, when I was 12; if you ever want to stop playing EQ, try dueling. Duels against a paladin regularly last 45 minutes.
Played D2, on and off since .09, classic and LoD; had many different characters, too many to list, but have and continue to crash duel games at all times. 2vx are my favorite, whereby my friend and I will see how many people it takes simultaneously to destroy us. I prefer GM duels (nking for 6 hours straight it for toolbags), so everyone begins said duels on equal footing. Hammerdin, 2 necros, and a trapsin against the two of us... oh baby, nostalgia!
Played WoW as a paladin for about 26 levels; you know what, mentioning that will probably detract from my persona. Ignore that noise.
And as an 82 cleric, I've played the roles of support, damage, and tank regularly. I've found clerics are the best tanks in-game, the problem is that we can't hold agro in PvE; all I have to do is make a couple **** jokes, and I'll have three melee classes all over me. Easy pickins'; damn, do I love Plume Shell.
Now, to the juicy bits:
I have not oracled once (save for the 35 supply stash ones, but I only clicked one, decided it wasn't worth it to fly to Angler's, and just pushed it aside for later), placed spirit points into the place where I think they are best suited, and have been a full-time min/maxer ever since D&D 3.0. I also have an 82 cleric, as my avatar suggests, but as of now my sin is 36. I do NOT use a charm, though I can easily see how it can significantly increase my ability to survive; unfortunately, the way I like to grind, I tend to use more than the top 50% of my hp bar, and I would end up wasting a lot of it trying to level. I've been in a few skirmishes so far, and I can summarize them thusly:
Me: 30 Target: 35+ sin
Charmed assassin who was killing at oracles. He was red, so I hoped he wouldn't have dolls, and I could treat myself to a 20-stack of Oracles. Alas, I was to be disappointed. Didn't learn too much, I just tele-stomped him when the spider ticked his charm. I'm not sure he ever attacked me, he may have been too focused on the spider.
Me: 30 Target: 35+ sin
Different guy. Pretty trashy person, didn't really know how to utilize the class. Tele-whirled him like a boss, he dropped me some potions. Took him down to half, then instead of meleeing until my skills refreshed, I found an npc and jumped on top of it, kited until I felt I had enough health to take him again, tele-smashed his face in.
Me: 31 Target: 34+ BM
Was intelligent enough to use AE stun, but beyond that, my evasion crippled him and his pole-arm build. Rib-slash effectively allowed me to ridicule him and his inability to use skills while slowed by 27.5%. Went down, and I had enough time to refill my soda before he came back for a second, similar slaying.
Me: 31 Targets: 32+ Wizard, 34+ Veno (Dark Wanderer pet)
First target that had a chance to kill me, and had back-up. The wizard burned me down once while I was unaware he was there, and I came back to reclaim my honor. Using sexy tactics, I stealthed as they started to chase me, teleported on top of the wizard, and dropped a couple skills to secure victory; now one-on-one, I hit Shadow Escape, walked around a little, and tele-stomped the Venomancer. Venomancer was red, so did not come attack me anymore, but the wizard came back for two more fights; one where we both died at the same time, the second I had to chuck a knife at him to get him to attack me, whereby I tele-mezzed him, sparked, and pulled out the big cannons. Didn't lose any life, other than the stone rain he used to turn hostile.
The damn wizard actually offered 50k to anyone who killed me in local chat at Silverpool. I mean, I can understand hating me, but damn; I'm worth more to kill than my gear costs at this point. Maybe I should've suicided and upgraded my rings.
Me: 35 Target: 35 BM
BM was using some yellow axes, I can't be bothered to remember which. He brought me down to about 35 hp while I was afk, when I tabbed back into game I found him running from me saying I was no fun. Luckily enough, he stopped at a Revival Herb and started mining, so I hit second wind and a potion, tele-mezzed him, sparked, and dropped him. He came back once more, but for a duel instead, in-which I won by a margin of 35 hp because of a lucky crit; I've learned to NOT go toe-to-toe with a BM.
I believe these are all the fights I've had. Of course, there are the instances of 80+ reds one-shotting you at your most unaware (and sometimes AFK), but I'd like to disregard those as actual PvP instances. And again, this is in my 30s: I'll get back to you when I've gained some levels, and have tried out killing the other four classes; but as of now, I'm impressed with how the class is working out. I'm just what I need.

Don't -- the game WAY changes for us at 29. I've developed a strategy that makes it fun to grind, which is something that hasn't occurred since I learned how to AE kite.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Sure assasins get owned in pvp. Who told you that? How would they know? Have they fought assasins their level yet? Have they fought a level 80+ assasin white named? No.
They've only just come out, and you're telling me that people are saying we suck?
1. Anyone with common sense can see an assasin is an excellent pvp class. Stealth mode isn't for PvE.
2. The majority of us are low levels and no one that's high levelled can base whether we're good or not, we're not even evenly matched with the other classes yet.
3. Assasins are a hit and run class, we're not meant to tank damage, get used to it.Reikara - 94 HA/AA Veno - Heaven's Tear - Retired
