Look at the skills you use most often and compare the Demon bonus vs. the Sage bonus. Then decide if you're going to do a lot of PvP, most venos go Demon for PvP (and it works very well in PvE). The Petite Sawfly is a favorite.

Wrong. I wouldn't use Soul Degeneration until Sage, and other perks like speed boost during transform in demon don't show up til then either.

Wrong. Most of the skills you use for ordinary things like your quests or dungeons (like TT) are skills you want to look at. Pick based off of what you use the most. I went Demon because I liked the break from Demon Ironwood. Demon FF was a perk. I like Demon Amp and Demon Bramble and use both pretty frequently. I use Summer Sprint all the time and anticipate getting that for my Veno. I will also get Demon Lending Hand because I can use it on myself with the chance to gain a spark, which will make gaining chi much easier and it can be cast every 15 seconds. Don't look at "perks" like Lending Hand or Fox Form. Look at the skills you use the most, like Ironwood, Venomous Scarab, etc., etc.

If you're LA you should probably go demon to further increase your crit bonus.

LA itself as a build is inferior to most other good builds in terms of total HP/total def; its only worth taking to endgame if you want to increase your crit to dominate in PvP; and since demon gives you crit bonuses, its the prefered choice.

Other differences can be found in the hundreds of threads that exist on this subject.

    advice to fledgling archers:
Going sage is like drunken sex, at first she may look good, but when you wake up the next morning; you'll look at her and go WHAT HAVE I DONE.

Except, when you go demon/sage and get the skill boosts, the way you play will change. Soul Degeneration and Crush Vigor are two examples. Spark eruptions are another.

Also keep in mind how easy/hard it will be to get the skills. Last poll I saw had venos going sage by a 3:1 margin, so Demon skills tend to be that much easier/cheaper to get. Especially desirable skills like Sage Soul Degen and Demon Amp (either Amp actually) also tend to be very rare and command a premium price on AH. So unless you already have them or can afford it, you may not want to give them too much weight in your decision. The three easiest skills to get are Fox Form, Venomous, and Ironwood.

I was lucky enough today to get Sage Soul Degen for a mere 30m in AH today just before I turned 96! Oh how I love it though!

Hmm, dunno but everyone else but I'm gonna go with demon, the demon ironwood scarab is awesome and the fox form speed boost would help heaps. But to me Demon is more for PvP and Sage is PvE, it kinda all depends on what u wanna be :)

Go to http://www.ecatomb.net/pwi/skillpwi.php and click the veno section and compare the skills.

It's really based on your play style.
