Which skills are best to build for pk?0 -
not a hundred percent sure but the level 3 bleed skill might do well as the bleed does more damage then daggers right now lol so it could be useful arcanes later on?Accounts:

i second this, and would add that you should keep your bleed skill (Puncture Wound i believe it's called) maxed at all times... as Zatuka said, bleed is highly useful versus arcane classes, because bleed damage is physical in nature (arcane classes have naturally low physical defense)Retired Character

Since it is the first day the expansion is available, i don't think anyone has a good enough idea on how to use the skills for any particular potential build.
I have looked at the requirements for the Assassin's weapons and equipment.
You will need to spend at least 3 points in Dexterity every level to be able to use the better daggers at the higher levels. To use Light Armor you will also need to spend 1 point in Strength. I've been placing the remaining point in Vitality rather than magic because I'd rather have HP over MP.The One and Only Copper Commando Barbarian b:victory0 -

ya i agree to. the bleed skill is double-triple the melee dmg depeding on the skills lvl so it would be like doing crits with each bleed tick. its a good skill for sins to use early on but idk how useful it would be once u get higher up. slip stream strike (lvl 6 skill) and the lvl 9 skill are also good things to have. the lvl 1 skill also gets better the more u lvl it but the lvl 3 6 and 9 skill +meleeing are sufficient enought0 -
The first skill you get is total junk. Don't even bother training it at all. The skill that is next in the tiering, I'm on my Psychic so I'm not to sure of the name, swift something, is tons better. It has a much higher percentage of additional damage and I was one hitting level 12 mobs with the second rank which was really nice.
*runs back to experiment with his psychic a bit more*0 -
I totally agree, That first skill is useless, Just ignore it. I lvld it to lvl four my first try on assassin and it does, like... 200 damage, my attacks did 150, and the other skills did 500+ on lvl 2 and 3. but like ashendal said, the second tier does so much better.0
-
Like others have said, if you dont have the spirit, stop lvling the first 1 after lvl 15 or so because the damage isnt much higher than that of a normal hit and in the time you use the skill you could actually attack 1.5-2 times...
Definitely get bleed and slipstream, they are very useful.
The one that gives you a chance to incr. movement speed isnt very useful to me right now in pve... might be good against runners in pvp later on.
I forgot the name, but the one which gives you a good chance (86%) to sleep the target for 5 seconds can be a lifesaver.
As for the buffs, well the incr crit one can be nice. But the incr movement speed is not very useful against mobs unless youre running for your life... and well tidal form... idk if you like swim it might be good.
Note that my sin is only lvl 21 so my opinion isnt worth very much0 -
Ok, at the moment i'm level 24 so i can't do a total view among all skills, but i can help cause i've analyzed them with experience on the ground and i can say:
Twin Strike: forget about it, it's useless, like almost all the initial skills
Puncture Wound: It can be useful cause of bleed status but the damage itself isn't so good. You can level it if you want, but i don't know, I'm damaging so fastly enemies with normal attacks that bleed status doesn't do more than one damage to them. I don't thing it'll be useful until medium levels.
Slipstream Strike: This skill is awesome. The big damager you need to do a big amount of damage in the early levels. It'll be useful to level cause it kills fastly mobs practically without channeling. Thanks to it i'm doing a lot of damage to mobs in short time. Doing criticals with it it's supreme
Shadow Walk: I've leveled it at level 2 but i think i'll keep it so because isn't so useful. If it would be possible using it while running away from a mob, than it would change everything. Also, it seems that aggro has been fixed, and also it sucks your mps like hell. I would concentrate on more powerful versions of shadow skills
Wolf Emblem: Maybe now we are doing little damage withcritical, but i want to be trustful to this skill. Ok Ok, at level 10, 30% isn't that much >.>. But we must consider that assassins are based on critical hits, so we are going to do more crit at high levels and powering their damage is always good. even now some crit shows itself Maxing it it's good.
Windpush: We must consider that we have better skills than this if we talk about movements. But the one that teleports costs 20 Chi and the other one 1 spark. So, like we do to the blademaster's speed skill, i advice to max it at our level cause it can be used everytime and is helpful. BUT, once we'll get wings, we can set it apart for a while
Deep Sting: This skill is cool. But i can't say that is useful. Even mobs wake up too fastly while using it, and leveling it up doesn't add seconds. I can't say i'll get crazy for this skill even if it can sleep so rapidly. And its damage isn't so high but decent. By the way, it'll be a cool skill to max, but not so early.
Focused Mind: This skill is good. but i thing that against mobs works only with magical types, cause phys type doesn't use skills so frequently. By the way its real purpose is against players. So Max it, not only because it's a good buff but also because it'll be useful either to pve or pvp. It intends all kind of skills, so i think it can be possible to avoid even magic attacks
Knife Trow: You can set it for later. Vs magical mobs it can be useful, but even they hit phys when you hit them in close range. So level it later. Its true power is against every type of class. It's a 95% pvp skill. Max it at high levels cause you'll not use it very frequently and it doesn't do so much damage. but in pvp, used on the outstanding enemy's skill, can be useful to gain time.
Tide Form: leave it at 1. maybe when you'll do moresub marine quests you'll want to raise is level, but i can sure you that this skill isn't necessary other than level 1.
And so now. I'll continue to write information the more i'll try new skills0 -
Knife throw on magical mobs? pls don't. try ranging the mob with damage over time (DoT) attack - like poison or the fire or metal. Rather shadow walk to sneak near the mob, then do melee damage as it will also do melee attack on u.
I would initially use knife throw on melee mobs.
But thats just me as an assassin - sneak up to poison/fire/metal mobs with DoT0 -
Infact when i said to use it on magical mobs i was referring on its ability to interrupt channeling, obviously its useless because it does too low damage and mag mobs will hit you with magic attacks. I'm curious about the shadow walk usage you mentioned. I'm playing on Rising Tide server, and unless the so called mini bosses, andof course some mob used for restricted quests, all toher mobs seems to have lost their aggro intentions, so why approching them in shadow ? Of course if you mean this combo speaking generally, it makes a whole different sense0

OK lvl22 here and i ll tell you my experiences too
Twin Strike: i agree, dont use it or lvl it (still lvl1)
Puncture Wound: this is the skill i use more, i ll explain later how and when i use it, but remember that DOT skills are always useful in tough situations
Slipstream Strike: i love its great dmg and small cooldown, no chi or huge mp cost so just max it at all times
Shadow Walk: Since we get the stealth mastery at 29 and have a decent lvl i will use it only for fun or once in a while. Dunno if im gonna lvl it since only the mp changes (not the stealth lvl) lvl2 atm
Wolf Emblem: lvl3 atm and im gonna lvl it since it seems to be cheap and yes we are based on critical hit dmg
Deep Sting: this is skill is my favorite! i noticed that if you cast it and then attack the sleep effect stops, so i ll explain at the end how i use it,i ll keep it max for the % of success the dmg isnt worth it, more utility skill
Focused Mind: in the descreption it says to avoid skills, so i think its totally pvp skill. I use it though at lvl1 and i didnt see any resist or evade or something like that appear, nor the evasion going up, didnt try it a lot in duels though (ppl avoid to duel me b:cry)
Knife Trow: I agree this skill is more for pvp and magic mobs,i dont know if you can lure with that(i doubt it) and the dmg is really weak, the range though extends by lvling it i use it as the 1st attack usually from far.
Tide Form: Hmm now that skill really confuses me, it gives you a nice swim speed and defence lvl, though u cant use your skills in water by this form. So if its only traveling by water skill, thanks but no thanks :P (plus i hate we all have the same visual >.<)
Now how do i use to play.
Since on low lvls we have to deal only with physical mobs,i try to use my speed and flexible skills to play with mobs.
First i use knife throw at max distance so i can pull the mob, while it is on its way i buff with wolf emblem. Then i use Slipstream Strike (with critical it may die ^^) now here is the part i like : speed skill,Puncture Wound (so u can stuck it with the bleed DOT) and run back OR Puncture Wound and then Deep Sting, so the mob is sleeped for some seconds and die by itself from bleeding
I cant wait to see the rest skills and how to combine them all have fun everyone0 -
To be honest, I'd only throw a couple points into Slipstream. At 29 you get Rib Strike, which is a vastly superior opener - more damage, and slows enemy attacks by a sizable chunk for 30 seconds.Knife throw on magical mobs? pls don't.
I agree. Open with Tackling Slash on magic mobs. It freezes them in place, preventing them from running, and gives you 50 chi. There's really no reason you shouldn't be spark erupting and eviscerating anything that moves with this skill. Save Dagger Throw for when they're actually casting, or to pull melee mobs.0 -
Level 30 Here, adding my input ^^
Twin Strike: Yeah, it's totally useless. Don'y level it too much
Puncture wound: Its great for DoT, if that's your style, and I use it alot especially for mobs that flee. Levelling this skill up is a good idea
Raving Slash: This skills is alright, but the time it effects your speed is only 3 seconds and doesnt increase. Use it first, and then use normal strikes. If you have other skills, level them first.
Slipstream Strike: Godly at my current level. My crits with this move were 2000+ at level 26. I recommend levelling it.
Deep Sting: I agree, the time it sleeps for is limited. I only really use it on Fleeing mobs so I can get some better hits in.
Knife throw: Its Damage is not great, but If you need to pull a mob out of a group this is the skill for you. Can interupt casting, so use it if you see a mob channeling, but I wouldn't level this one too fast.
I haven't used the 29 skills much yet, but this is my input.
Tackling Slash: The damage is okay, but it only immbolizes, so mobs still hit you. I think the only way this would be particularly useful is fleeing or putting some space between you and the enemy in order to heal.
Buffs;
Wolf emblem: I don't use it an awful lot, its nice in harder fights, but I don't have much to add beyond that.
Focus mind: This skill is great, though again more use in harder fights. It increases your dodge chance by a nice percentage.
Shadow Jump: I suggest you get level 1, it teleports you straight up into your enemies' face, but the only thing that changes when levelled is the range and mana cost
Shadow Escape: Again, atleast get Level 1. This skill forces you into Shadow Walk, making you invisible to mobs with lower sneak, and dispels negative status. Also adds 1 spark. If your fighting multiple mobs, out of pots or about to die, this skill will save your life.0 -
i can take down any mob my level with the following attack chain:
puncture wound -> slipstream strike -> deep sting -> wait for sleep effect -> slipstream strike
those three skills are the only attack skills i use. the rest are useless in my eyes
the two buffs (wolf emblem, focus mind) have been useless so far
pretty much straightforward class, been much easier than archer (i'm doing more damage than them too)Retired Character

honestly, i found just using the bleed skill and normal meleeing efficient. or slipstream+bleed then melee. normal hits are starting to get better and the bleed just adds more to it. from my experiences bleed+melee brings the mobs down faster.0
-
well at 31 i currently use
puncture wound > rib slash > slipstream strike and the mobs dead lol
i don't really use the others, i'll use tackle slash on mobs that run so i will lvl that and of course dagger mastery will be leveled too
but the other 29 skills i prob won't lvl for awhile, the tele is nice but more for just pvp, the forced stealth is also rather nice as it gives you a spark0 -
Learn all skills except the 1st one, and that raging slash, it sucks. Is Now On Lost City Under The Name; Mortyy0

ok first things first <.< twin strike isnt useless... its a very useful skill.. assassin relies on skill damage (Chill f the deep) so twinstrike is good DPS between locks... likea BM.. they need to use lower level skills to maxamise damage between stun locks.
2nd. NEVER use stealth in PVE.. its not necessary and requires alot of mp,shadow jump is better.
3rd. if u want to pk.. max out all skills except for raving slash.. that sucks XD0 -
mmh at lvl 82 right now grinding for me goes Rib strike (crits 10k+) then regulair attacks
bloodpaint keeps my HP above 90%
and if i got 2spark ready, i'll start up with headhunt (lvl 5, 7-8k dmg regulair 13k+ crit)
i'm still waiting on the 79 skills QQ i'm hoping on some AOE or serious dmg (maybe even non-phy dmg)0 -

__________________________________________
Twin strike: at low levels it sucks, but it gains more dmg per level as u lvl it up, at lvl 10 usin it 2X does the same dmg as slipstream in same time, also, might be glitch, but when i use twin, the next skill i use comes ridiculously fast, so instead of slipstream, i can use twin and slipstream in same amount of time.
_________________________________
Puncture wound: Lvl the $#!+ out of it, does sooo much dmg. And stop using normal attacks, spam your skills.
You think they have small cooldown time for another reason? Use skills constantly, especially once you get chill of the deep, All attacks get huge dmg boost, only normal attacks are slowed, and since you don't use em anyway, all good-no bad.
_______________________________________________________________
Slipstream: Max lvl. Use tackling slash, twin strike, slipstream, puncture wound, deep sting
This stops enemy from runnin, opens up with quick attack followed by strong attack, starts bleed, then sleeps
you walk away from the enemy, and he dies unable to hit you, then get chi back on next monster with tackle.
________________________________________________
Wolf emblam: so useless. Lvl 1. Thats it. Doesn't increase dmg that much.
___________________________________________________________
Focused mind: Very usefull early on. You say you didnt see the evade or anything? You know when the monster normally does 50 dmg and he only hits you for 1? thats it right there. Later on use tidal protection instead, no status effects meaning you CANNOT BE SLEEP, STUN, FREEZE, SLOW, or any other annoying things mages do to you.0 -

i am in agreement, no normal attack, in fact, dont even put it on hotkey bar, replace with twin. use slip after, followed by puncture, then sleep, then tackle and rib stab, then twin and slip again0
