just real quick, if your critical percentage is 10% does that mean that one out of every ten strikes will be a critical? Or is there some crazy formula that comes into play here?

If your Crit rate = 10% then your hits have a 1/10 chance of doing Double damage.

I'm fairly certain that's the case yes, but I couldn't tell you if there are any other hidden factors. What I'd like to know is if healing spells can possibly crit or not. As they amount healed does not show up in the Damage or Combat chat types, one would have to do quite a bit of heal-spam testing to find anything conclusive... something I haven't had the patience to try myself.0

1/10 is an average. If you were to strike 100 times, there is a high probability that you would crit. 10 times. This, however, doesn't directly correlate to 1 out of every 10 hits being a critical. You tend to get...clusters. You may see sections where 4/10 hits is a critical, and then you go back to not getting any.
The code for the randomization in this game is strange, as it seems to group things, even though it's supposed to be random. It also, unfortunately, seems to make up for good luck (lots of criticals) with stretches of bad luck (no criticals at all). honestly its not quite so much when it comes to crits it seems after 5% points start being more effective and after 25% points start becoming less effective. This of course with every added crit most often you will find with a 10% crit you will crit far more often then 10 out of every 100 hits more like 20 out of 100 and 20 is more like 30 out of 100 or so it seems.
Its based on a random number generator from 1-100 if it falls in the number then you crit if it doesn't you don't. Crits tend to fall into that easier for archers and less so for wizards even if they have the same crit rate. I do think level has to do with that as well the higher you are the more chance you get too. But the last part is simply speculation the random number thing is true thats how PW figures it out and its all calculated server side too which is why damage hacks don't work on this game.
