Tide Form is useless.

Just something I noticed while playing. You can't use your skills while in Tide Form (only physicals, so assassins may have SOME use for it), and it only increases your movement speed and defense level, making it useful only for travelling.
Tideborn were supposed to be excellent fighters in the water, but this just means they're the same as everyone else. They have no advantages underwater whatsoever.

    Big Hype = Big letdown?

:( I hope not. Maybe it's something they could alter in the patch, as it seems there's some stuff already in the works (ie the facial customizations, etc). But yeah, I would assume that the TB would be able to use their skills underwater, as it makes next to no sense that they can't use them.

I'm really liking the Psychic though, it's just this that really disappointed me.
Also, Psychics seem to have the capability of surpassing a Barb's defensive power. Level 1 of the Defense Level skill increases your Defense lvl by a whopping 36 (That's 36% less damage!) though decreases attack lvl by 54, sending it far into the negative =P

Any word on the cooldown of those inc/dec skills? I wish I could play but I can't yet due to work. If those skills can be cast as quickly as BM marrow skills it could be ridiculous for pvp.

Cooldown 8 seconds. They last 60 seconds when cast.
    Effects of level 2 skills:
-Black Voodoo : +13.2 Attack level -6.2 Defense level
-White Voodoo : +39.6 Defense level -59 Attack level

Note that they overwrite each other and have separate cooldown timers.

I would figure that they overwrite each other...but that cooldown is too long for it to be practical for switching back and forth rapidly in a fight. Oh well. The attack level one will be great for DD and the def level will be great as an "oh snap" button. Thanks Andi.

I haven't had the chance to log in as it's still updating for me, but I'm kind of curious to how a Psychic plans on attacking when their attack lvl is negative. Does having a negative attack level essentially negate your attacks during the duration of the skill? Or does it just exponentially decrease the amount you hit for (ie instead of hitting for normal of 100 dmg, you hit for like 2 or whatever)?

Nah it's less than 36%. Defense lvl calculates after the p/mdef reduction. Or else with 64% pdef reduction and 36% def lvl you take no damage, and that's not happening.

    Ex:
If you have 30% phy reduction, then you would take 70% of the damage. That 70% is then further reduced by 36%. So you now only suffers 44.8%. On the whole that 36% def lvl only offers 25.2% extra.

That number will get lower and lower as the reduction % goes up. If you have 70% phy reduction, that means 30% less damage. The def lvl then takes out 36% from that 30% damage which makes you suffer 10.8% less damage.

Not as good as you might expect, but def lvl is the only thing that defend against both mag/phy attack.

EDIT: Now that I think about it since it's possible for psy to get more than 100% def lvl, the rules on def lvl might have changed.

I used the Def and Attack buff based on the mobs i'm hunting. I'm going pure Arcane Psychic. So,

For magic mobs - I use the attack buff.
For melee mobs - I use the def buff.

Seems to have worked well so far.

sounds like it would be a waste of spirt points to get that skill then. like buying the veno's swimming mastery, which is also nerfed into uselessness. getting Tide Form would just be for those who like the pretty mermaid...

now i really dont know if i want to bother with this. should just stick with my cleric, who has a hell of a lot better skill tree....i was shocked to see how few skills a TB can get

I agree Tide Form is kinda useless sense you barely go in the water and there are VERY FEW water based quests so that's one useless skill you should leave at lvl 1.
