I used to play this during the summer and enjoyed how it was. But now I want to play full time sort of and was wondering what leveling was like and the most efficient way to go at it. I've never played a grind based game, so if that is a way it would be new to me, but I wouldn't mind.
Is it Item shop dependent or can I get by without buying things? Since my moms in charge of the CC getting things may be difficult.
Also what class is needed more?

Yea, PW is manly grind based. Though you'll only slowly be introduced to grinding. First simply quests, than grind quests (kill 30mobs, kil another 30 mobs, kil another 30 mobs...), than you run out of quests at 80% lvling, so you purly have to grind. Than you run out of quests at 50%, than at 20%, than you get 2 quests per lvl, and both are also grind quests XL (get 60 drops, which even are rare b:thanks)
You can play perfectly fine without spending a single dollar (or penny, or w/e).
I haven't used the cashshop even till I started do something where having a cashsop items is almost a must, and than I just bought it with gamecoins.
For needed classes, most needed are (good!!!) clerics and barbs, though you should play whatever class you like rather than whatever class is needed the most.9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris0 -
leveling from 1 - 50ish is relatively simple by just doing all quests and some dailies (crazy stone and bounty hunt) to fill the voids after quests are done for the level. If you want to level faster than the new generation of players that use genies - go old school and don't use one, thus you won't be feeding it xp (or just let it level itself without giving it any xp). Grinding is a slow process that can take hours a day for leveling. It can be sped up with a training esoterica (or w/e it is they are calling it nowadays - but this is a cash shop item unless you find someone who is selling it in a kitty/cow shop). Oracles/Wanted's/Authentic Work's/Scrolls give some additional exp as well. Oracle's make for very fast leveling, but take a good deal of coin to aquire if that is the only way you plan to level. If you want to be "wanted" I'd advise against leveling with only oracle's. People want to squad with players that know their role.
On that note, every character has its role. Clerics heal and are necessary on bosses, and they are quite expensive in the upper levels when charms are required for FB and TT runs so they can use their Regeneration Aura. Barbarians are the tank class, they get beat on so that no one else has to. This class is also expensive in the higher levels due to higher repairs. They can be replaced by a Blade Master at times, but it depends on whom you are squaded with (a Blade Master will make a poor tank when partied with higher level archers and wizards as they cant hold aggro or get it back as easily as a Barb can). Wizards and Archers are ranged damage dealing classes - they make the fights go faster. ie.. a squad of three clerics, myself, a veno, and an archer can do Dimentora in 15 minutes. One cleric healing, one cleric doing damage and support heals where needed, one cleric doing heaven's wraith, the veno and archer doing their jobs as usual. A squad consisting of me, 2 clerics, and 2 blade masters (one of which is 20 levels above me) takes us 25 minutes to do Dimentora.
Then there is venomancers. Largely designed to be solo players, however they have some useful party skills as well. Lending hand is great for tanks and clerics, bramble guard is great for tanks, and amp damage is great for everyone. the fact that venomancers get a pet to fight / tank for them enables them to solo most of the game where other caster classes would need help from a tank and/or cleric. If the veno has a herc pet, their ability to solo gets even better - generally if a herc veno can't solo a certain boss, it is doable with just one or two other venos to assist heal their pet. I know there is some silly notion that "if you don't have a herc - no party" but I for one love to have venomancers in squad with me. One of which being that ONLY a venomancer can pull properly and in a timely manner, without relying on a genie skill that takes forever and a lifetime to cool down.
so now that you are armed with that information - you can decide what play style you think you would enjoy and what role you would like to play in parties.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

just dont get too carried away doin solo grinding quests early on...
thats what i did until i noticed i was getting no exp for the quests :P
on the flipside though ive got heaps of rep ;D[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
if by that you mean the "one man army" and "a solo mission" quest, then you are correct - the reward itself contains no actual xp - only a celestone fragment and 2 rep. however, both are beneficial later on - so I actually recommend that if you don't mind the grind, do as many as you possibly can.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

It's always worthwhile checking out what the available solo/one-man/etc quests are - often you can find one that overlaps with a 'real' quest, so you can complete both at the same time.0
