Hello. With the Tideborn release coming this WEDNESDAY (wow..) I have several names in mind that I could use for my new character.

However it'd be nice to know if there's a way to know if they're taken instead of by having to create a character with the name.

It'll help me a load, cause I don't want to be sitting there an hour in front of the monitor thinking up a new name after I find out my preferred one is taken.

    I made a char 10 days before with the name I wanted to see if its taken or not, so I already know the name im using :P

    My mother had a Thoroughbred named Dopherdinkle, maybe that will help.

    um, you made a character with that name, therefore the name is now taken. it doesnt matter if you delete the character, the name does not become available again.

    and i really wish they would update the names thing and allow deleted names to be re-used.

    You should come out with a big list of names you like ordered from what you like the most to the least.

    I just hope I don't see any more xX, __, oO in names. I hate that because it looks so ugly.

    You could use the search by username function in the forum, if you start typing a name it shows most of the accounts. I don't know if it shows every account.

    I completely agree. I have a small list of a load of names I'd love to use and I doubt even the first pick is taken.

    I just like having a good picture of what I should be expecting come release :P

    Eh? Usernames are reusable? I could've sworn I saw a post somewhere saying even after waiting a month they couldn't reuse a name....

    make a character to place a "hold" on your desired name. you'll have to wait 7 days for the deletion, but at least you have a 90% chance of getting your desired name

    I always have rather unique names, so I never worry about them being taken. I have never run into that problem fortunately.

    thought they fixed that like nearly a year ago? I seem to remember having deleted and recreated one of my alts in feb or so

    well not a year ago.. but i guess theyve changed it since last time. tried to make a new char with the name of one of my deleted alts and it worked, then tried again with a different one and it did not work, so now i'm a bit confused. is there a time limit like say a month or.. what the hell? 2nd name was a lot less likely to have been made by someone else than the first, so i dont get it b:question

    there's a short delay between the original character being deleted, and when you can use the name again (maybe 5-10 minutes, if that long)

    the original character must actually be deleted, or it wont work. as in ACTUALLY DELETED lol... not in that pathetic 7 day wait time (which really needs to be removed, that is really just pointless, if i want to delete my character, i WANT IT DELETED already...)

    I've got at least three different names picked out at last count. I'm pretty sure if my primary name is taken, my secondary won't be. [knocks on wood]

    Semi-off-topic: Someone out there had an interesting idea, though. They wanted to name their Veno Valintine -- but I already had that name, so they named their character Valintime. It was kinda funny when a friend PMed me about seeing my (evil?) twin.
