Chance of refining - a rough guess plz

Hi

I know these questions have probably been asked a million times before but I can't find a good answer so I am asking again b:pleased

When using a mirage celestone to refine weapons/armour, what is the approximate chance of success? I need to refine a one star sword.

When/if I am successful, does my weapon/armour get 'stars' or just increased abilities. So would a one star sword become a two star sword?

    I'm not sure of the exact chance.. but I can usually refine something once after 1-3 mirages. If you succeed it'll become (Your Sword Name) +1. If you succeed again, it'll be +2. If you then fail, it'll go back to (Your Sword Name) with no +. Abilities are increased by a certain rate which I can't remember.

    I don't know how reliable this is, but I saw a chart some time back that said the chances of success on +1 was like 50%, +2 like 25%, +3 10%, and from there I don't remember any others.

    I failed first attempt at +1 a couple days ago and then succeeded first try on +2 immediately after second attempt at +1.

    accidentally I made +4 without Orb or Stone and it suceeded. i was like wtf but uber happy!
