Paint isn't as simple as people think, it has all sorts of it's own little tools. XD
Pixel art is just hard because there's no smudgy tool and one misplaced pixel can make something look fat.
My friend is using this as a way to practice her pixel art skills because she does tags on another site that kinda have to be pixel. I'm impressed with a few of these. XD
I can't use paint though, not that good. So mine will just be- like.... bad.... XDD

Edit: JPG and GIF images will ruin your image. If you want it to stay nice save it as a 256 color BMP or PNG.

It's good to work on it in a BMP, PNG is good too. BMP's don't compress and PNG is a lossless compression, so you don't lose color data every time you save. When they're submitted though, a part of the rules states they have to be in jpg format.

The Rules are to Draw with pencil, anything on Paint, not to go
search for umm...Online pictures and pasting

The rules say nothing about copy/paste. They only state you have to work in MS Paint. I'm not sure about others that did something similar, but mine was done all in paint.

Reducing the stocking template to 1 pixel width, coloring in those slightly off white pixels that you can't use the paint bucket tool on, removing backgrounds from icons, placing things in the proper order since there's no layers, making custom brushes (not that I really used it for anything other than the trim on the stocking), creating 3 textures (one being the simple brick, the others being the trim on the stocking and the wood), pasting those into place, resizing images. All of that is using features in paint, nothing else (which is part of why my hammer looks so bad, I can barely freehand with a mouse. I had done a much better one at a 45 degree angle but you can only rotate in 90 degree increments, and it didn't look right).

The single exception is the game logo, it can be pasted in since it has been suggested in the contest rules. Keep in mind that the logo is just another extra thing to add in, and should not become the basis of a pattern that covers the entire entry or anything.

I don't know if this has already been posted or whatever, but if you guys want to keep the quality of your drawing the same as when it was drawn, Save it as .PNG b:victory Its the most Pixel friendly format to save MSPaint files as

I was just thinking, somewhere someone should create a guide to posting pictures on a forum, in the Beginner's Guide or something. I certainly see it enough. b:surrender
