Ok, so I ordered a laptop for school that will be arriving this Monday. If I were to play my main on that computer, and make an assassin Tuesday and play it on the computer I currently own, can I play them both at the same time in accordance to the game's rules? Is it multi-clienting if i play on two computers?

***I'd really like to hear from a GM or Mod on this so that I know fact and not opinions.
It's too bad but "free to play, pay to win"-sckye

These "updates" are seeming more and more like downgrades.

You can play on one account PER computer.

Multi-clienting means you are playing on more than one account on ONE computer.

Just keep running one account per computer and you are fine.

Edit: Just saw you wanted a GM's response, suffice it to say what I gave you is not opinion but goes along with the ToS found here.

You are NOT allowed to modify game files (which is what you have to do to play more than one account at the same time on the same computer). Becuase you are not modifying any game files, playing one account on each computer is fine. There is nothing to prohibit or restrict the use of multiple computers running one PWI program EACH. It would be unfair to enforce this as many dorm rooms and multiple other situations share the same IP.

Many people do it despite knowing.

    People make two seperate accounts to able to play both at once. Now, normally one account is just used a bank/salesperson. I don't think I've ever heard of one person being able to constantly play both accounts normally.. o.o;
    Please, call me Kiyo. b:thanks

My instincts would tell me that it's against the rules.
But then again, it could just be your ''little brother'' that also plays PW and uses a laptop.

You play the game on 2 different computers at the same time, you CANNOT play two instances of the game on the same computer.

Since you will be using 2 different computers, you are legal :)

I am not a GM, but I stayed at the Holiday Inn last night, and I switched my insurance to Geico.

OOhhh oohhh first to holler about using the search function.

I know this has been duscussed before, and that a GM responded. Basically, it's bannable to run more than one client on a computer, mainly because you would have to really **** the client to do that. You can however run the client on multiple computers. If you couldn't, neither my wife or my daughter would be able to play LOL.

So essentially, yeah it's okay. And if you use the search feature to your advantage, you can find where a GM states it. Myself, I am too lazy to do your work for you b:chuckle

OK, i got and understand the answer to my original question. Now for a second: Why is multi clienting illegal? What does it do to disenfranchise the company?

Well, it is illegal because the company said it was.
For more clarification on the rule, read this:

    http://www.perfectworld.com/about/terms

The client is programmed to only run one instance, if you, for some reason, managed to get it to run more than once, than you would be in direct violation of the TOS, since it states you may not use the program in ways it was not intended to be used, and that you cannot modify any files in any way.

    Hope this helps.

You may want to post in the suggestion board the suggestion for multi-client, if you would like to see multi-clienting on the same computer.

Multi-clienting is not allowed because it is taking advantage of game mechanics in a way that was not intended. This is outlined in the Terms of Service that can be found here

if you have any follow-up questions, don't hesitate to send me a PM.
