All these art events are great, and we're proud to showcase our talented community in all of it's glory.

But now, for something completely different...

This is a contest meant STRICTLY for MSPaint! Call it simple, call it cruel, call it what you will, but if you can shine in this contest then you've got it made anywhere!

Decorate the image below in the spirit of the holidays, make it as good as you can using Paint and you'll have a chance to win an expansion flying mount!

So.... You think you can PAINT?

The rules of this contest are as follows:
  • You must use Microsoft Paint for this contest (MS Paint) - or if you're not using Windows use a simple image program. This contest isn't about showing off your uber PhotoShop skills - we want to see a demonstration of your creativity using very simple MS Paint tools (brush, pencil, shade filler, etc.).
  • Save the 'stocking' image (below) and open it in MS Paint. Feel free to color and scribble on the stocking in any manner you like. Jazz up the background as well if you like. The only restriction is that you DO NOT resize the template image.
  • Protip: The ZOOM function is your friend! It can help you get some more detail into your art in MSPaint.
  • Any inappropriate content will be subject to immediate disqualification and disciplinary action.
  • When you feel your submission is up to par, post your image as a response to this thread.
  • Multiple submissions are allowed and encouraged!
  • We will accept submissions starting RIGHT NOW up until 6 p.m. (Pacific Time) on Monday, December 21st


For this contest we will choose 2 winners in the following categories:

Winner A = The coolest overall design. There's really no restrictions here - your imagination is the limit!

Winner B = The most 'Christmassy' design. If you're thinking of submitting a design in this category think along the lines as if you were creating a Christmas Card suitable for sale in a store. Bonus points if you use the words 'Perfect World' on the image or the game logo

Here is a (poorly done) example of how it may end up looking. You can color the background and add much more detail than this. We beseech you to make something that's a lot better than this! Using MSPaint while holding a spoon is HARD WORKb:shocked

But spoons! How do I post an image?

-First, save your image, it will be in JPEG format.

-Go to one of the following image hosting sites:
http://tinypic.com/
http://imageshack.us

-Click "Browse", find your image, click "Open"

-Click the Upload Button.

-You want to select the code that is called "IMG code for forums" or something similar.

-Paste that bad boy into your post, and there you go!

    So I can't use outside images, what about the logo?
    The single exception is the game logo, it can be pasted in since it has been suggested in the contest rules. Keep in mind that the logo is just another extra thing to add in, and should not become the basis of a pattern that covers the entire entry or anything.

    Can I rotate the image?
    - You can rotate it 180 degrees upside down, but other than that no. The dimensions will stay the same if you go for the 180 degree rotation, so it is technically allowed.

    Can I resize the image?
    Unfortunately we can't allow this, as it is in the rules and having images of equal size is part of what keeps this contest fair.


    It has been brought to my attention that people may not be simply using paint.


    Remember, the use of any third party program to trace images before putting them into paint, means that YOU'RE NOT using Paint!

    It's a fairly easy thing to spot, and remember this contest isn't about creating a masterwork, it's about the lulz.

    If an entry is seen to be devoid of "lulz" and it is apparent that the artist has used helper programs instead of Paint because they believe the contest is "srs biznuss", we will not be able to judge them alongside those entries that abide by the contest rules.

    Might want to make the stocking solid pixel line instead of a photoshop line...Since fill bucket doesn't fill transparent pixels.
