Barbs & Genies - How do u use it ?

well, i was wondering about how u guys use your genie(s)

1)which genie(s) u have ? --> name level and Lucky Point
2)which skills u pick ? --> number names and level
3)when do u use it most ? --> pve or pvp / always or just as lifesavior

4)which combos u invented ? --> how to exploit genie skills and barb power b:victory





i still have my genie all messed up since last update (didnt even picked up the quest for reset in time b:angry)

but now i have made my choice, and i know how to raise/skill them

yeah, im talking about 2 genies:



-TANKING GENIE
Longevity with 51+ LP --> 5 skills

SKILLS
1.ToP
2.Solid Shield
3.Wind Shield
4.Alpha Male
5.Earthquake

max all skills at 85


work good with:
80 DEX
60 STR
20 VIT


affinity requirement:

16 points

element:
WOOD 5
EARTH 4
WATER 4
METAL 3


Alpha Male is a second ROAR and is very usefull to AOE aggro and avoid squad wipe
Earthquake is a second ALACRITY that can save you if u mess with cancelling
Solid Shield is usefull when ur in dangerous situation with busy cler
Wind Shield is a lil less stonger than solid but is cheap so very spammable
ToP is both healing and HP increase skill usefull with arma



-TW/PK GENIE
Discipline with 51+ LP --> 5 skills

SKILLS
1.ToP
2.Tangling Mire
3.True Emptiness
4.Occult Ice
5.Holy Path

max all skills at 76


work good with:
80 STR
80 VIT


affinity requirement:

15 points

element:
WATER 7
WOOD 3
METAL 3
EARTH 2


Holy Path is usefull as 1st to reach enemy, if the fights starts from range
True Emptiness works great against both squishy and melee classes
Occult Ice is range stun for 10 meters, good agaisnt kiters
Tangling mire is great and stack with devour, its an AoE that decrease speed and P.Def from range
ToP is both healing and HP increase skill usefull with arma




now im gonna post some combos i thought of, i havent tried em all yet


BARB + GENIE COMBO
1. Devour + Tangling mire --> 100% P.Defense reduction for 10sec

2. ToP + Arma --> uber damage

3. True Emptiness + Bestial Onlsaught --> nice range dmg + shield + evasion debuff

4. Occult Ice + Bestial Onlaught --> range stun damage + evasion debuff

5. Invoke the Spirit + Solid Shield + Wind Shield --> 30 second of NO DAMAGE




ULTIMATE AOE DEMON SKILL

demon strength of the titans + demon roar + demon sunder + demon bestial rage + untamed wrath + tangling mire + demon onslaught + ToP + Armageddon + demon swell + demon slam + demon firestorm


ULTIMATE CLOSE PK DEMON SKILL

demon strength of the titans + demon bestial rage + demon devour + tangling mire + demon onslaught + ToP + Armageddon + demon mighty swing + demon stomp of the kings


ULTIMATE RANGE PK DEMON SKILL

demon strength of the titans + demon bestial rage + true emptiness + occult ice + demon devour + demon onslaught + ToP + Armageddon + demon mighty swing + demon stomp of the kings

    Alright, two skills i have used that i didnt see here.

    1. earth claw, it makes a pretty good aoe mag attack. If you position yourself right to use swell or firestorm it adds a pretty good hit. Works pretty good in pvp too as an extra hit against heavy armor. Only problem is it can miss based on your accuracy.

    2. Relentless courage. Ok i admit i haven't used it since the great genie skill nerfing a few months ago, but with a str build genie it might still be nice after demon sunder or bestial onslaught.

    only prob i saw with your Ultimate Demon Aoe, not enough attacks after sunder, thats too much of a waste of 100% crits.

    well im not to good with genies, but there are some things that are nice about them and i can give so info from what little experience i have.

    the first skill i heard i should get was explosion.
    wow was that bad advice, do NOT get that skill, complete waste.

    second skill i heard to get was second wind.
    this skill really is awesome and i think it is a must for any class (except maybe cleric who has enough self heals already)

    solid shield is a skill i decided to get on my own.
    its basically a genie version of invoke the spirit and its barb only.
    while the damage reduction isn't anywehere near the 90% of invoke.
    This skill is still very useful when u dont have 2 sparks free for invoke or if your not a high enough lvl to use it

    tree of life i think would be fantastic, but as i haven't got it myself yet, i cant make any personal comments.

    relentless courage is a skill i have that is kinda cool. but it isnt on the same lvl as second wind or solid shield
    Killing level 80's with a lvl 60 is a lot more fun than killing level 90's with a level 100.

    for the AOE combos, i saw it that way cuz:

    D. ROAR
    u aggro mobs and reflect 100% dmg for 10 sec (dmg reflected count as attack)
    D. SUNDER
    u AOE dmg, heal and make every attack critical for 5 sec


    now the REFLECTED DAMAGE from roar is CRITICAL cuz sunder affect EVERY ATTACK


    this way, u have nice use for the fast 100%CRITICAL



    then:

    D. BESTIAL RAGE and UNTAMED WRATH to gain CHI while still reflecting

    and TANGLING MIRE to AOE debuff P.DEF


    these are all istant cast so shouldnt take much time out of that



    at this point:

    D. ONSLAUGHT should CRIT and now u should have again another 6second of +35%crit

    and then ARMAGEDDON




    out of those 5second of SURE CRIT, i dont think u have that much time to use AOE since tiger has just SURF, so i putted it that way

    onslaught should get at last second in the range, and HIT as CRITICAL, from onslaught u have another 6second of +35%crit

    maybe d.sunder isnt used at the max but we have not that much AOE skills so its kinda hard to enjoy that bonus from AOEing


    btw, what would u put in there between sunder and bestial onslaught ?

    my genie has ToP, Extreme Poison, Solid Shield, Impact. Obviously I can't use all of them all at once, but I use Solid Shield if things get hairy - ToP when grinding or to increase/restore HP when doing Armageddon. Extreme Poison and Solid shield to make boss fights go faster (cuz no one else seems to use em)

    well, i prefer tangling mire by far b:victory



    extreme poison:

    -is a single target, range amplify-dmg skill from 25meters
    -doesnt lure anymore
    -has short duration (10DEX increase duration by 1sec)
    -makes target SUFFER MORE DAMAGE +20% (fixed, not affected by stats)



    tangling mire:

    -is a range AOE-debuff(15meter around target) from 20meters
    -doesnt lure
    -has long duration 10 sec (cant last longer but is good enuf)
    -makes ALL ENEMY within 15meter from target suffer P.DEF and SPEED DECREASE
    -every 10STR reduces SPEED by 1% and P.DEF by 2%
    -stacks with devour or penetrate armor
    -at level 10, with a STR genie, if u use this with devour u inflict 100% P.DEF debuff b:shocked




    so there's no need to tell u which skill is better

    tangling mire has ALOT more effectiveness and uses since is AOE

    Too bad Tangling mire looks like genie poo. Anyway, as to the op, i would rather surf impact after sunder, and then just extract vengeance upon whomever looked at me funny till the crit effect ends. You can activate bestial rage before sunder and I would skip untamed wrath completely. It takes a while to cast, does no damage, adds no benefit other than chi (surf will do that too) and the 1 sec stun is one less second a mob/player is reflecting damage to itself. Perhaps you could pop out of tiger and use swell, but that takes too much time too imo.

    perhaps Ill change things up a bit on my genie and replace impact with tangling mire some time. I rarely use impact anymore to be honest. but... I wouldn't go so far as calling tangling mire always better than extreme poison. Extreme poison is essentially like a veno's amp damage (only you don't need a veno in squad to use it) so it will increase damage from all party members, not just the ones who deal physical damage. That being said, if you're squaded with a bunch of magic casters - extreme poison would be the better choice. The AoE and slow aspects of tangling mire are also negated against bosses when you're A) fighting only one thing - B) not going anywhere that needs the boss to be slowed down.

    Extreme poison will allow for more damage per hit. Theres no doubt there. just depends on if you are willing to cast it often enough.

    I prefer Tangling Mire, due to its aoe, slow and longer effect. I can also use it as as a emergency aoe aggro skill (for e.g. when theres not enough energy for my Alpha Male).

    Add TM to a devour and you end up with a minimum 67% pdef reduction. (Yes TM is a 35% reduction but its 35% of the remaining 50% I believe).

    hmm.. I quoted the whole post, so of course whatever was in there got quotedb:chuckle

    I wasnt talking about luring skills. hell, even extreme poison doesn't lure except in fb29. if you want luring done, use Zeal with earthflame - or bring a veno along. I'm honestly not sure what you're trying to get at by saying what you did.

    it may be a major chi cost to use it like I do, but I cast it every time it cools down when we do bosses with high HP such as Dimentora and Soul Banisher.

    Barbs should use the Genie "Zeal" with Earthflame. Its always better luring yourself so you dont must catch the mob first.

    I only use my Genie for tanking (PVE).
    My favorite TANK skills are:
    -Solid Shield
    -Wind shield
    -Life Drain
    -Tree of Protection

    My favorite stats therefor are:
    -STR. 28
    -DEX. 50
    -MAG. 40
    -VIT. 20+

    I didnt give any attention to the genie till now.. My genie atm is bad I think..

    lvl.47 Infliction with LP:21/40 heh
    skills: Venom stinger,
    Trangling Mire (put it by mistake XD, but isnt bad..)
    Second Wind
    & ToP

    Now I am thinking the same with the post above, to get a zeal genie... but hate that he has the 15 starting ponts at mag.. So I dont know if I should go for Zeal or new Infliction...
    With zeal I am thinking to get: ToP, Tangling Mire (so I could chase someone if needed :p )/or Holy Path, & Second wind probably..
    If I get onother Infliction I think to put: ToP, Second Wind, & Solid Shield


    So what you think? What is the best genie to get and make him as I think...

    Second wind seems like a really bad skill, not nearly enough healing to justify a slot.

    Ok this is a good thread with lots of useful tips so far, but one thing I noticed is...NO magic on your genies at all?

    my current genie
    lvl 90 Longevity 61/90 lucky points
    50 str
    15 dex
    48 vit
    50 mag

    ToP lvl 7
    Solid Shield lvl 10
    Holy Path lvl 10
    Absolute Domain lvl 6
    True Emptiness lvl 10

    Its kind of a multi-purpose genie because i'm not ready to invest in a second one just yet. I use it in TW while catapulling and it serves me well. I realize if i took away all that magic and vit I could add a lot to str to make the skills much better...but consider with 50 magic my energy regerates twice as fast and i'm able to use my skills more often. Also the high vitality lets me use the costlier skills more quickly one after another. What is your argument against this?
