World Quest.... why so boring?

Can this not be replaced with just the EXP for free each day? I don't see any logic in wasting the players time having them float around from place to place... sure it is optional but how does not playing the game = profit or fun?

Personally I play other games by companies I'm not going to name during it... so like if I have the game running shouldn't there be more incentive to play instead of quests that take forever and don't involve actually playing the game?

I'm not flaming you, but using your logic, why do they make us do anything at all? Grinding is also boring, but we have to grind to gain lvls (or oracles, but that uses money). If you're not willing to put in the time to get the exp, then you don't deserve the exp. If you can make more exp by doing something else/something more interesting, then perhaps you shouldn't do WQ.

Myself, I make WQ interesting my racing against my faction mates to see who can complete it first (there are rules to it, such as no teles that cost more than 1k etc etc).

First off, yes, it is boring.

Second : how long it takes is totally up to you. You can do it the hard and cheap way, fly/run there. Or you can do it the more expensive but very fast way : teleport.

Third : the quest is in fact a storyline, and the reward varies : get 10% more exp, get coins, get...whatever, as a bonus surprise at the end.

Lastly : while you're flying to your next far away spot : take a deep breath, grab something to drink and look outside. Relax a bit.

by this level grinding doesn't do jack for leveling unless you sit there forever grinding... which just isn't going to happen haha

I usually ignore it and do Frost but friends aren't on often right now so it is the only alternative... which is sad because it does not involve playing the game.... like if I do WQ I alt tab to something else and actually end up playing a FPS or single player RPG. WQ actually gets me to play the game less. But hey if I could get the same amount of EXP for grinding the same amount of time it takes to complete WQ I'd take the grinding but it is not possible.

I know the perfect game for you:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progress_Quest

You don't have to quest, the computer does it for you. You don't have to fight, the computer does it for you. You don't have to sell loot, the computer does it for you. You don't have to allocate points when you level, the computer does it for you.

Heck, you don't have to do anything, the computer does it all for you. Just leave it running in the background, and feel smug as you check on your character's progress every day.

No that is called Jade Dynasty... b:laugh

I'm surprised to see people defending this time waster. And to compare it with that... WQ is basically you doing nothing... where does it actually challenge you? How else would I be able to play other video games during it... because you do nothing.

Easy dont do it, problem solved.

If its taken you this long to realise that WQ is a time waster but good xp then you either leveled off oracles or are very very slow.

Personally I use WQ time to read the forums and answer idiotic threads like this .

WQ usually takes me like 4 or 5 hours alone cos I have the attention span of a goldfish b:surrender But I find it ALOT better when you do it with someone, but yeah, it's the time to surf ya factions forum and make dinner and stuff :)

I don't actually mind flying around doing it, it's something to do, I find it hard hard to fill my time sometimes, just sitting at 1k or whatever for 20mins...yea I have no life :P It can be the break you need from grinding or questing or whatever too.

    Currently I skip worldquest completely.

I think I'll start doing it the way I did a few dragon quests though - snag the quest and then just go to the npcs whenever I happen to be in the region for another reason.

Having an opinion is not idiotic. WQ was pretty much ignored until 90.. but go ahead keep your opinions silent. Been through other games where players defend illogical game design.

The only illogical thing is doing something you dont like and are not forced to, then complaining about it .

Dont like WQ . Dont do it .

Might as well complain about horse race too. Or crazy stone. Both make us wait/run around pointlessly for exp that's basically free.

I think WQ is a great idea, its a way to get exp without actually having to play. I start WQ usually while i'm making breakfast and reading the newspaper and usually finish it in the evening while cooking dinner just after getting home from work al it requires is 5 seconds looking at the screen every 5mins to autofly to the next book. This leave me free to actually play the game in the evenings without having to worry about WQ.

Also there are far better ways for a lvl90+ to get exp that WQ if you have time to play. cube gets me 450k exp each day in about 20-30mins, rb delta over 1mil exp in 90mins, FF 1mil exp in 2 hours and if you just liten to World chat while grinding/questing its really easy to find a sqaud for them aswell

I gotta agree that WQ is boring. But I usually WQ while making/eating dinner, taking the dog outside, watching whatever hockey game, tv show is on, reading forums, checking email...

Nobody said you HAVE to do it. I didn't do a single WQ from 70-75. Now I do it because I'm in a race to 90 with one of my faction mates.

Purely optional. I've only done 5 cs since I hit level 81. You don't really "need" all the exp, some people are just crazy about leveling for some reason.

Relax a bit, it's just a game, be patient ^^ you'll hit 100 or whatever eventually. Better to spend the time having fun with friends and trying new things imo. Spamming dailies all day is wasted time.

WQ is there for people to get free exp when you have nothing better to do than chat with friends or do RL things.

Sorry to say it OP but you just sound spoiled asking for it to be given to us for free. Why would any of us deserve something for free?? What's the point then??

    WQ IS GREAT b:chuckle

even if is done with a +0.5 speed aerogear b:coldb:spit

i leveled from 70-75 just with WQ and BH without grinding

and saved a nice ammount of quest i started doing after 75

during WQ u can AFK with no problem if ur on a PVE server

u have to pay a lil more attention if ur on a PVP server

WQ was like the 1st thing i did when i log on...then comes BH

this were my 2 priority if faction didnt require me to tank something or helping some1' BH

i started WQ and let it AFK while i was doing my homework, and i had no problem in doing that

or even let it AFK while playing guitar or watching cartoons at TV

    BORING ? YES

make this FREE EXP even more easy to get ? NO b:bye

    ugh...
I do wq, though not every day. i dont like it, but exp is good, and can be faster than unwined bh / fb too... and i do enjoy some moments of it - like skipping sundown or misfortune, skipping in general, or getting bonus at the end :)

things to do ingame on wq: talk to ppl, race each other, dig mats, take / turn quests, coordinate doing fbs / bossess for when you will be near, even killing quest mobs when you fly by and arent in hurry

things to do in rl: chores, reading books, browsing forums, paying bills, showering, talking on the phone, watching movies, doing some project you brought home...

its your choice to do wq or not. and to do other things at the same time or not. and your choice if you will be glad with what you did during your wq and exp you gained from it or rather upset with it being 'pointless' quest.

If wq is too boring, dont do it.
If it offers no challenge, dont do it.
If its a waste of time, dont do it.

A real challenge would be trying to grind for the same amount of exp although its not possible. While your at it, look at crazystone too and ask yourself what challenge does it offer? People shouldnt expect to get stuff handed to them for free without any effort. When you reach higher levels and need millions of exp to level and have no quests left then you will be happy that wq is there as an option. And it is just that, an option.
