    Barbarian-If you like taking damage.
Blademaster-If you like dealing melee damage.
Wizard-If you like dealing a ton of damage.
Archer-If you like dealing a ton of damage.
    Cleric-If you like healing people.
    Venomancer-If you like to solo.

This is just a general outline. It really depends on the build.

Barbarian: Tanker - generally a front man. Can take the brunt force of multiple melee attacks and laugh it off. Low on the damage dealing scale, though.

Blademaster: Moderate tanking ability. Can take some good hits. Multiple weapon paths to choose from. Stuns and AOE melee here. Fast leveling at later levels.

Archer: Obviously a ranged attacker, considered one of the highest damage dealing classes. Elven: can fly from level 1. High dex build required means high crit rate. Squishy at close range.

Wizard: Description: think magic Archer. Highest damage dealer in general. Squishy at close range. Some buff/debuff skills.

Cleric: Heals and buffs. OK damage dealing. Does not melee well, of course. General support character.

Venomancer: Pets. Great soloablilty. Fox form for melee, human for casting. Pets available in either form. Make your own two-man squad. Great for money making.

I agree with everything here. I would like to add my own opinion however for the original poster.

How strong defensively or offensively will of course depend on your gear for all classes.

I play the archer class. I solo the entire game except very strong bosses and such. I can play through the game without using a lot of mp or hp, it's very inexpensive for me. I don't know about other archers.

Wizzards with comparable quality gear can deal more damage than an archer in short bursts it seems. I do believe Archers can eventually deal more damage over time. Wizzards rely heavily on MP usage, they also have low physical defense.

While archers with the best quality gear are not naturally very strong in either defense type, physical or magic defense, it's about average for both, but the curve is in favor of physical.

Healers also have low physical defense and rely heavily on MP.
I am a retired healer, I was unable to afford the MP required to grind through my levels at high levels. 70+. It requires a lot of mp to level when the quests start drying out. I can imagine it might be similar for wizzards. There are probably healers who can afford to solo, I felt I was relying too heavily on daily quests which have exp rewards.

I believe Venomancers might have the lowest MP usage ( And archer depending on your gear) and they seem to be great when it comes to solo play, they use a pet to do a lot of fighting and they can usually kill a variety of bosses on their own, but not all of them of course. If 2 team up and heal one pet, it seems they can usually get the job done.

As an archer I can kill any quest mob so far, but I cannot kill all bosses, some I can with a healer but definitely can't solo.

There are bosses with a strong physical attack requiring barb / heavy armor help, while there are a few magic attack bosses that need a person who is wearing arcane or magic defense armor.

At some point in the game, each class has a unique and special attribute which can be used in a certain situation making all of them valuable. Some have benefits at all levels and some have benefits at higher levels, it really depends on how you want to level. Grinding or doing specialized quests and such. It will probably require you to create a character and progress through the game and eventually learn about each class as you advance along with the specialized quests to truly know which class is best for you or if you intend to keep playing the game. There are advantages and disadvantages if you enjoy PVP also. I wrote my opinion based on someone interested in PVE.
