Full speed WQ while browsing!?!

(Unfortunately, this only seems to work in XP)
-/EDIT-
I'm not certain how many people know this already, but I sure didn't:
As I'm sure everybody who does World Quest already knows, if you minimize the game then it only runs at 1/2 speed. This makes sense, really.
The problem, though, is that there's a glitch that prevents the game from multi-tasking properly when you try to run it in windowed mode. If you try to have it running alongside your browser, Perfect World thinks it's minimized and switches to 1/2 speed, plus it also stops updating the graphics.
Here's the solution:
1) Run the game in windowed mode.
2) Whenever you want to switch tasks, minimize everything else except Perfect World.
3) Right-Click the Windows Taskbar and select "Cascade"
4) Right-Click the Windows Taskbar and select "Tile Horizontally"
Voila!
You can now select your web-browser / homework / spreadsheet / freecell / etc... and Perfect World will happily keep running in the background at full speed.
Plus, it keeps drawing the graphics, so if you position the game beside your browser you can see when you're arriving at WQ checkpoints.
(Unfortunately, this only seems to work in XP)

Much easier to run it off a second PC. Or browse on another PC.If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.

And if given a choice between 5 mouse-clicks or actual physical movement (even if it's just rotating in a chair), well shucks, I'm an MMORGP player, so the choice for me is obvious...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Confirmed here: http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=1954482&postcount=26
It only applies to fullscreen mode. If you're windowed it doesn't make a difference one way or the other.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I've done plenty of WQs where I was simply running in windowed mode - none of this cascade/tile stuff. It seems to run at full speed for me... and the comp I play PWI on runs Vista.
Just remember you might "bug out" when switching to and from window mode, so if you bug out once, log back in and try again. Usually you don't bug out when you've just (re)started the game... it's a memory issue, most likely.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]

there's a real way to get it to run at full speed while in the background, but that involves editing the client b:chuckle
there's a reason it does this, it helps with the memory issues the pwi client inherently has
(or that's my thought anyways)0 -

Well shoot, you're right! Don't I feel silly!
I remember testing this way way back when the whole topic came up and confirming the game switched to 1/2 speed any time it wasn't the active window/screen. So either things got changed during some past patch, my testing procedures way back when were flawed, or I'm just plain losing my mind!b:victory
Still, it's nice to be able to now surf and see what's happening. That alone helps WQ a ton.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I used to be a die-hard full-screener, but now I've switched to windowed, there's less lag and it does work fine while I'm browsing. The only thing that bugs me is the blast of deafeningly loud music when I re-activate the window >.>
I hate the PWI music.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

iirc, windowed mode allows flight to be at normal speed. Only fullscreen mode makes you move at 1/2 speed.I was early taught to work as well as play,

Wait, what do you mean it runs at half speed. Do you mean the FPS or something else runs at 1/2 speed, or do you mean that is your character flying at half the speedb?0 -
Cool, this works great for WQ. Now I can Web surf on foreground pane and still see whats going on the client in the background pane.
As soon as you click on the Client (which brings it to the foreground), this feature is canceled.
On my computer, to get it to work again, you must resize the client window, minimize all other applications again and reapply "Cascade Windows".0 -
