    advice to fledgling archers:
Going sage is like drunken sex, at first she may look good, but when you wake up the next morning; you'll look at her and go WHAT HAVE I DONE.

Get an air pet and go bat hunting over swamp for your 60-70. Those Minion of Allacurd (or w/e) guys must have some sort of bugged drop rate; they spam DQ items like no other mob I've ever met.

Nix+bat hunting = best grinding ever.

QFT. I out right bought most of the mats/subs I needed for TT70 gear with the money I got grinding on those things. b:victory

At 48 you're not going to be able to really grind the coin for a herc very well. You would be better off farming mats and/or taking advantage of the AH/catshop. I don't really watch the prices on the wine mats you can harvest at your level, but I'm betting on it being around 4k per. Assuming gold drops to 400k, you would be looking at 75,888,000 coin. If you can get 25 mats per spawn cycle (they're 10 minute spawns) you would be looking at 600k per hour, which gets you a herc in 126 hours and 30 minutes of mat farming. Doing some merchanting in there as well, could probably cut your time in half to ~63 hours. Assuming 20 hours a week of playing (and a catshop up when not playing) you could have it in 3 weeks.

You could even take it a step further if you wanted, cease leveling while you farm the mats. Then pick up a couple of genies and feed that cheap crazy stone experience to them. Resell them afterwards and turn your exp/spirit into coin for the herc.

Huh, I can't say I ever had that great a drop from the bats either. Not terrible drop rates, but not wonderful either.

At 46... scrunchkins. Just south of krimison. Double spawns of each and every mid mat, including herbs - and only half of them aggro (though they ALL react to a fight starting, so it takes a little bit of care)

They're level 50 so you'll be getting close to the best drop-rates from them, and they drop reasonable numbers of DQ items and lots of compound thread.

... and looking on pwdatabase I find out that I've been wrong all these weeks, and it's Shrunchkin. No 'c'. huh.

So yeah, they drop ghost charms - and light armour. (And I don't care what that list says, they drop light armour WAY more often than scrolls)

You're reading the additional drop table wrong, it doesn't say they're anywhere close to the same drop rate. Scrolls have a combined 12.1433% chance of dropping on that loot table, but unlike the normal loot table, the scroll table is only on .005763% of mobs, meaning you see a scroll every .07% of kills (1 in 1428). A pair of Wraith Boots is .3312% of drops with .423405 per kill, meaning 1 in 713 kills is a pair of Wraith Boots.

Pretending all armor has that drop rate, because I'm tired and don't feel like doing more math, there's 21 types of armor that can drop, so you would be looking at 1 in 34 kills for a piece of armor. In reality since they're different rates it's higher, probably up around 1 in 50. That's still almost 29x more common than a scroll though.

Well, I did have a Nix by that time. So I was blowing through them at a fast rate.

I was also dumping XP into my genie (which I regret doing now) so it would catch up to me.

TBH, nowadays grinding just doesn't bring in the money like it used to at the lower levels for me. It's almost like the higher level mobs have a lower drop rate, or maybe it's because they drop only a little more expensive stuff, and the things I need are alot more expensive at my level.
