Hi my bm is a sword build and i just got to level 29 and bought the skill mage bane.. all guides and everyone else tells me its useless and dont touch it but the description says decreases channeling time by 50% for xxx amount of time... shouldnt it be a skill to level with spare sp and money cuz wont it help fight off caster classes?

Nope, it costs 1 spark to use it, BMs are a chi based class (i think the most chi based class in fact), and you need that chi for better things that will keep you alive far better than a channeling reduction.

Remember, with a good stun-lock the channling reduction is better b:chuckle

So leave the skill at 1 as a requisite and move on.

Many blade skills are only good once all classes start getting end game. Demon Atmos is great for killing/assist killing annoying characters with high evasion. Similarly, Magebane will be great for those people with annoying anti-stun pots/genies/skills.

At first, it will only delay your chance to get a stun lock going. Though if they waste a drake or two, you'll be screwed without swapping to fists to gain some chi back. But if the target is an end game caster with some heavy -channel gear, they will beat you down in that time frame. Their DPS boosts by quite a bit, and they can fit even more spike skills in the 10 secs it takes for your charm to recharge. If you run into the issue of a stun failing/missing, use Magebane to drop their channeling back to normal range, and survive until you're able get them back into a stun lock.

Remember, any guide talking about a useless ability in a skill is likely constrained by not being in the end game portion when written. So try to think of a way that could be useful, or wait until more people get true end game and write a completely accurate guide.
Fist are the worst at PvP AND PvE, if you disagree, as I said, take it to PM's or make your own guide. Go here if you want to debate about it. - Lyndura

Get a High lvl Fist warrior use it, Restat to axes. GG - complexx

I would rather gain 3 secs with smack than using a spark to buy some time with mage bane. Especially when u are short on chi. You are not the only class who can sleep/seal/whatever... so will is a must, and then let me save my chi for some good drakes/roars and smack again (this is a timing killer).

It wasnt necesary that a guide told me that the skill was useless, i used it and decided it was no good. It can mess your chi management.

    No chi = dead BM

So my advice? lvl one and no further. Or u can lvl it and try for yourself. Choice is yours b:bye

1v1 with healers and mages, sometimes I throw on a sword after they burst and slow their chant. depends on hard they hit, makes it a lot more tankable. other than that, no real use
