Blue screen of DEATH!

Hi,

I really want to play this game, but when I get to the character selection screen, my computer crashes and I get a BSoD. Same thing happens with Jade Dynasty, and they weren't able to help me out either.

My ATI Radeon card is up to date, and I meet the req's for the game.

Anyone have a fix for this? b:surrender

    Upload the image of the dxdiag to www.tinypic.com then c&p the "forum/bulletin" link that it provides here. Or, you can also, click "save all information" in dxdiag. Then, Paste that text here (Remove the trademark symbol before posting it though).

    Also, googling the bsod error helps too.

    Yeah, my computer was built about 5 years ago, but most every game works on it still. Do you think I need a new video card then?

    Actually a couple other games do the same thing to me: Jade Dynasty and Civ4. BSoD right at the beginning of game. Most other MMO's are fine, ex: Atlantica, WoW, Gates of Andareon, etc.

    Haven't tried some of the new games due to not meeting minimum reqs for ram and such.

    can you tell me your entire hardware specifications?

    if your not really sure about your hardware then
    Belarc adviser can help get info about most of it.

    run it and feel free to uninstall right after. (it's only a 2 MB Download)

    Just give me the:
    Operating System
    Processor
    Drives
    Main Circuit Board
    Memory Modules
    System Model
    Display

    (me don't need to know much about your software right now since it seems you have more of a hardware problem) Me suppose your using Windows XP since your comp is 5 years old and all.

    and mayhaps knowing what power supply (make/model) you use would help too.

    I have been having problems as well but not quite BSoD. Id be playin fine then whammo either a reboot or the report bug screen would pop up. Thinkin I had something viral I ran in-depth virus scan,malware scan and adaware scans. Everything came back copacettic. After a few hours of making adjustments via the launcher and its game settings and still no joy, I got into my nvidia control panel (I have a GF5200 FX[yeah yeah I know hamsta i know]). I forced everything towards performance and forced openGL to the texture clamping. Lo and behold I was able to play smoothly for hours on end again. Give that a try it cant hurt and you can always set it back to the default and try something else.b:victory

    Should have a ATI control panel try looking in the advanced section of display properties if you dont have a ATI Icon in your system-tray (next to the clock in on task bar).b:victory

    My thoughts: I think you might want to upgrade.

    My computer is younger than yours, 2 years old or so, and PWI runs fine. Under minimal settings. A few days ago I tried cranking everything up to the max, just to see what I was missing, and it basically shot my video driver in the foot. My computer went berserk with pop ups saying my video driver failed and restarted. I had to go in and manually turn down the settings before I could run the game again.

    whoa sowwy for the late response but um....if memory serves me right. you can open up the ATI control panel thingy and choose advanced mode to mess with those settings.
    (only problem is ATI's interface for their control panel changed a couple of times.) but it should work out like that.

    ehhh me had a computer that was way older then his. (like 8 years old) it didn't break (replaced it with me new mobile computer) but had some sort of funky artifact problem. lols. (was useful at first because me got like a lazor going straight to me enemies but after a while it just got annoying. (because trees and stuff instead of players were shooting out the artifacts...it was still playable though ^.^)
