    Really, if you're expected to go looking for previous topics, wouldn't you naturally be expected to post in them as well?

    they ask you to search, so that way you don't needlessly post duplicate thread asking for info that's already been answered

    in the event that you find topic about what you need, but your question is not answered, then you may post new thread if original thread is too old
