That isn't what he is asking. He is asking if the player characters NAME will be removed from it. Reading Comprehension ftw!

OP. No, the name of the manufacturing player will remain.

No need to be rude to him as the OP didnt clarify one way or the other.

The way that he uses "it" in the last statement makes "it" refer to more than one thing. This means that you have to ASSUME what he is talking about. Of course the only thing that really makes sense is if he meant to say, "Will the name be removed from the weapon after she is deleted?"

However, bc of the lack of clarification you can also ASSUME that he said something that wasnt even stated in the previous sentance (and this assumption is easier to make bc "it" is describing more than one thing).

So, he could have also meant, "Will the weapon be removed from my bank/inventory/game/insert your own "it here" after she is deleted?"

Just bc your ASSUMPTION of what the correct meanings of "it" is may be correct, doesnt mean you have to be rude (it also makes for poor reading comprehension).

Actually, he was quite clear. Just because you or others might be confused doesn't make his statement less specific or incomprehensible.

"I decided to keep one item with her name on it. Will it be removed from it after she is deleted"

There is no other way to interpret this. "Will 'it' be removed from 'it'..." The former would have to be the name, as the weapon could not possibly be removed leaving only the name, making any other interpretation of this statement bewildering at best.

Also, your use of "bc" in a logical arguement made me laugh. It is also spelled sentence.
I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.

I never claimed to be a grammar major...

Unfortunately you are making the same mistake. You are making the assumption that bc (just to make you laugh :-P ) his sentance does not make sense any other way then it MUST be correct with your way (again poor reading comprehension). English rules are there for a reason, not for you to make assumptions about what is being said (or for you to apply what you think is your almighty sense of being to the sentance).

"It" is always understood as the last noun that was used. If you re-read his first sentance he defined "it" as the "one item" (aka weapon/gear/whatever the item is). He continues using it in the next sentance (question). Without any other reference or reclarification to what "it" is, you MUST go by either the last noun used or what the last meaning of "it" was (just in case you were confused it was the "one item" not the name).

So if you want to be technical his sentance reads, "Will the one item be removed from the one item after she is deleted ?"

Just bc it doesnt make sense any other way than mixing what "it" is, doesnt mean that others can be confused by it.

    It's still a nounb:cute

Seriously though, everyone with a bit of common sense could've figured out it was about the name on the item. You can look for farfetched interpretations whatever you want, it doesn't change the fact you lack reading comprehension (since you missed the obvious point in the OP).b:bye

Maybe I got a tad carried away with why I made a post to this in the first place... The objective of my posts was to prove that there is no need to insult someone if they did not understand the OP's question (fyi I understood it fine). It is easy to understand how it could be confusing to some when you use 'it' to represent more than one thing.

There are many people that play on PWi that do NOT speak English as a native language. When a non-native speaker (even a native speaker) makes a mistake in the interpretation of a question, or sentence, there is no need to put them down and say they dont have commonsense or they have a lack of reading comprehension....

It's best to give people the benefit of the doubt rather than to call them out. Maybe that's just me....

P.S. (using the edit ^^ ) While "name" is a noun, "it" can only be describing the subject noun. Because "with her name" is a prepositional phrase, it can not contain the subject. Also, to apply your 'common-sense' logic to it, the last 'it' in the first sentence obviously describes the weapon. Per grammar usage, the next "it" in the question can be argued to be the same meaning of the first "it" (which is still the "item" and not the "name").

This isnt 'far-fetched'... Its the English language....

I was not being rude to him. Trust me, when I am being rude, you WILL know it.

And no. what the OP said was pretty clear and understandable and didn't leave any 'wiggle room" like you 'try and fail miserably' at suggesting it does.

He asked a clear, concise question. only moronic idiots like you would assume there could be any other possible meaning in it because you simply fail at basic reading comprehension. Attempting to suggest there could be any other possible meaning just shows how you have failed in life, school, and intelligence.

The full sentence as written by the OP.
So, my friend quit and gave me all her stuff
The clue to what OP is talking about.. his friends 'stuff'
, and as a reminder I decided to keep one item
The clue given again to what the OP is talking about, 1 ITEM of his friends STUFF.
    with her name
    her name, the first part
    on it.
on it, the item in question, being the second part...
    Will it be removed
the first part (her name in case you already forgot)
    from it
The item I.E. the second part.
after she is deleted ? b:surrender

The part that explains why he wants to keep an item with her name on it.

This educational destruction of the OP sentence has been placed here to show what kind of morons inhabit these boards that can't read, and somehow misconstrue the above sentence as meaning the item would be removed if the player character was deleted.

Further more it is designed to point out to other morons that would attempt to defend such a vastly idiotic statement that they do fail at basic reading comprehension and no amount of manipulation of the above sentence will make anything that the first failure at reading comprehension said, a possible outcome of the OP sentence.

    ~Saitada

p.s. I am not inclined to give people the benefit of the doubt. I've found all to often that doing so, just allows idiots to continue being idiots around me, just that little bit longer.

Nice of you to demonstrate your skills of finding 'clues' to make your 'assumptions'.

Regardless whether or not your assumption of what the OP is asking is correct, your logic behind this particular English grammar rule is lacking.

You can argue all you want about what the OP is attempting to ask, however, I may argue about the fact that you ARE making an assumption. We will go in this vicious cycle over and over and I am sure neither of us will cave.

I have grammatical fact on my side, you have your 'clues' as you so elequently put it... (notice I am still being to the point while you want to be 'rude' :-P )

Sadpuma, I think you mixed up JP/Chinese grammar with English. With English, it doesn't necessarily have to be the way you described it. That or you mixed up who, whom, that, and such with he, she, it, them, and such. I often don't use perfect grammar, but that is mainly because it sometimes just doesn't feel right for the situation, not because I don't know.

It doesn't change the meaning. Part of reading COMPREHENSION is UNDERSTANDING the flow of the sentence to garner it's meaning. No amount of 'grammatical correctness' is going to change the meaning of the OP sentence. If your going to continue to argue that it somehow does, then your just a flipping moron and idiot.

The OP was clear and understandable. Nothing in the post would lead anyone with any amount of actual reading comprehension skills to misconstrue what the OP was asking.

BTW dumb ****, in case you haven't looked around you.. you are the only one arguing that the OP message was somehow not clear and understandable (other than the single raging moron that your defending).

Seriously, go electrocute yourself. The post was clear, understandable and literally no amount of manipulation by you is going to change the OP meaning. READ the sentence and see it's FLOW. If you do that, guess what cupcake.. you UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF THE POST.

So take your supposed grammatical correctness, shove it where you sit, and stfu already.

Yeah, about that, sorry but there is a part of English called 'comprehension' which refers to understanding what the writer intended. Being so stuck on grammar actually does reveal a lack of confidence in ability, especially in the area of comprehension.

    You pretty much went:
"Oh, I don't understand this, so nobody else will. Lets say that this was not written properly so that I don't feel so bad."

Yeah, basically what happens is people get so stuck on rules they forget that reading comprehension is the act of garnering the writers meaning, based on sentence structure and flow. That's how good writers convey descriptive imagery with very few words.

Poetry is one example. If every poet used 'proper grammar' then sadly most poems would simply lack any decent imagery at all. Example of what I mean. Here is one of my poems:

I hate when people try to inspect my poems and stories for "perfect grammar." Poems tend to not have perfect grammar and many of my stories use lack of perfect grammar to help the flow better. (please don't tell me that you expect a foreigner in a story to say "Good Sir, a bit of coffee spilled on your pants and is becoming a stain, perhaps you should wipe it off." It is more like "You panties stain. Clean up." (You think I'm not saying something that they actually did say? Well... too bad.))

    lol I know the feeling.

I write a lot of short stories, and while my grammar isn't perfect, the meaning of my stories comes across clean and clear. Had I wrote in a grammatically correct manner, the stories would 'feel' stilted and poorly manufactured.

Always pisses me off when some internet school marm comes around and tries to destroy a story or poems flow with 'correct grammar'. If I wanted to talk like some dude with a stick shoved up his backside and his shirt stuffed fulla ****, I would. I'm a redneck. Proud to be a redneck, and I don't give three rover piles what anyone else thinks of how I write or talk.

Leave your 'correct grammar' in school. This is the real world out here, 'correct grammar' doesn't exist in it.

Congratulations you can color code, you must make mommy proud. b:chuckle But, youre admitting you are a redneck, so i guess she doesnt expect much...

Despite the fact that you color code these things to fit your ASSUMPTION of what the sentence means, does NOT mean that it cant be read incorrectly. Which is what i am arguing about. You however, as most rednecks feel they must do because of lack of knowledge, try to substantiate your claims because this is the "real world" and you have "reading comprehension" skills.
