Sooo I'm a level 9 Venomancer and I'm having troubles deciding which pet I should main time at the moment! At the moment, I got the little Varicose Scorpion! But he's boring and I want new pets!

I've looked up at the little "Pet, Number" thingy guide and it's basically summed up I should either go for the Golem(Magmite), some Flyer Pet thingy, some squirtle monster(He's a choice for when the game decides to throw in them water missions and make me sad.)

So that's
1) Golem
2) Flyer
3) Squirtle
Should I do that?

The Golem is so boring looking and that I'd rather get the Sable Minkii that is more fun and attacks like Red XIII from FF7(Seriously, he does).

My question is that if I choose Sable over the Golem, would that like make drastic difference in how I level? Opinions on the whole thing? ;o

if your goal is to go for a herc or nix then what you get for now doesn't matter as much. I had a Tauroc Slave as a land pet because I thought he was cute and was funny as heck when he bashed big bosses with a stick. By the time he was a level 56 I had my herc and so poor Kenny doesn't get to play anymore. I had a Foxwing Pinnear as flying pet but replaced it with a nix and so sold that in a cash shop. Raising a pet from a low level makes your pet stronger but will cost more in leveling its skills and buying new ones. I would say your best bet is to choose a land and air pet that is fun to use and get a new water pet whenever you have water quests.

it could, but really, just play with what ever you think looks fun. you dont need to be a copy cat like every other vneo and use golems, even though they are probably the best tank for a veno until a legendary pet.

if youlike the minkii, be your guest, and use him!

This character admits to being the same character who's account was banned. The banned account has a long history of blanket insults and misleading information. Golems are rarely the best tank for a veno when excluding legendary pets. There's also nothing that a Golem can tank that a Herc can't while there are bosses that common pets can tank that Herc's can't (including world bosses). I also don't believe there's anything a Golem can tank that another common pet can't.

The game is pretty forgiving in terms of pet choice. So if you really don't like the magmite, you shouldn't have much problem killing regular mobs with just about any pet.

Just be aware that at the same level, against physical mobs (which is what you'll mostly encounter before level 50), the magmite is the best tanker out there among the regular pets. It has the best phys defense, the 2nd highest damage and 2nd highest hp of a regular land pet. So it's pretty obvious why they're so popular among venos at lower levels.

What tweakz says is true at higher levels, when you encouter more mobs and bosses which use magical attacks (the magmite has close to the lowest mag defense of any pet). But his argument that other regular pets can tank anything a magmite can is only true if the other pet is slightly to significantly higher level than the magmite. For two regular pets of the same level against a physical mob, the magmite wins hands down.

I'm trying an arcane again. I'm using a tuskmoor and I can take more than one mob. Get quests done fast and all. I hardly lose aggro if I attack the same one he is attacking which is awesome unless I crit. >.>

Just do whatever floats your boat.

There's nothing wrong with using ny-old pet that you feel like. The low wolves are pretty good, though slightly fragile. The minks are even more fragile, but it's not really going to be a problem unless you want to try and tank bosses.

The 'cookie cutter' you list does indeed work pretty well. At around level 50 you'll start to want something that can survive magic-casting monster too, but you can leave that until it comes up.

Since you can only use monsters that you can tame yourself - your very best bet is to just go and tame everything you can see and try them out. Stick with the ones that you like best.
