Has anyone ever been told?

Don't make my screen shake!

So I was following my quest path around The Mines and I got told to stop making other peoples screens shake by using Stone Rain.. The jist of the convo was this:

Player: Dude stop making my screen shake its making me lag
Me: I didnt make the skill I cant stop it
Player: Just dont use it then ffs
Me: Err no its my skill ill do what I like
Player: Just stop it before I get mad
Me: *Channels Stone Rain* Nope
Player: OMFG seriously! *Runs off after random insults are used*

It was quite funny to me but how many others have had a similar experience?

First of all, I think your choice of color on the black background was a worse mistake than using a skill that lags others.

I also get annoyed when people use very graphic intensive skills, especially when fighting a boss. The genie skill tangling mire, and a few of the genie skills for example.

I'd just as that a person be considerate when using such skills, although since they create such a problem, they shouldn't even be in the game anyway.

I find in GV it can be bad news...I have seen half the squad lag out because of it.

Well since you are both unable to read purple text, i'll reply in orange and hope for the best.

Stone rain doesnt really cause much of a problem but to this guy it really did, since I was killing werewolf spearmen which are water element stone rain was my opening skill so I wasn't going to stop using it because of one person b:surrender

b:laugh BM Do have alot of skills which shake the screen so it would be funny to actually watch him play IRL when he levels up, He was a BM himself around level 20 so maybe he hasnt experienced the screen shakes he can cause.. Who knows he might drive himself to quit by playing the game b:shocked

Got mixed feelings here concerning this topic...

Gawd I have a urge to say "deal with it" to people to complain about others' skill usage. It may lag my computer up a bit, but honestly nothing that's gonna crash my game. Even my laptop can handle it, and it's nowhere near gaming-class (if anything I avoid West Arch like the plague on it, I'm guaranteed 10 minutes just trying to get across).

But I do agree they can get annoying. Tangling Mire, that grass-looking Bramble skill and the Phoenix genie skill (forgot names, not in-game, no genie skill list ATM)... but given they do help with the damage, I'm not complaining. They come in handy if you have a timer (that TT with the 4-minute boss, and RB come to mind).

EDIT: Yeah, I'd have told that guy deal with it. Getting offended and insulting because of skill usage that doesn't even affect them directly... wow.

But to make such a fuss over a little screen shake (having just tested to see how much shake stone rain causes) its so stupid, it hardly makes it move, maybe that guy was sitting through an earthquake and his whole monitor was shaking but didnt realise

Not really his fault for having a suck computer necessarily. I play on a laptop with Vista that has only 512MB RAM (Vista shouldn't even be able to operate on the piece of ****, and neither should the game), but I can't afford any better at this time. Same case for him maybe? Although I don't seem to have an issue with stone rain or tangling mire, or at least not a noticeable one.

    ^ This

if its laggin your own group, its etiquette to stop.
If its someone else, grinding or something, they always have the option of moving or coming back a later time when you are done.

What decip stated is the truth. As long as your skills dont lag out your squad (ex. tangling mire in rb) its cool. Then again, its pretty annoying when people duel in west archo...

To be frank, if I was grinding and someone asked me to stop using my skill(s). I would use them even more in front of their face.

In a different game, I used laggy skills to my advantage. I was aoeing around 50 or so monsters at a time with kiting. There were 2 seperate areas with about the same number of monsters in them right next to each other with a clear boundry. Another player started coming over to the side I was on from the other side, trying to hog everything. We were both aoeing everything on the side we were on.

My class had the laggiest skill in the game, I used it on the crazy number of monsters, made them lag so bad that they died. I've disconnected people with that skill, I've also crashed computers with it. (nearly including my ownb:surrender) One guy could only see the skill animation and nothing else for 15 minutes it lagged him so badly.

Just be thankful its not that bad here.b:laugh

Thats exactly what I did, I made sure I was killing mobs near this guy so it would shake his screen which caused him to run off directing insults in my direction b:cute

If I was a barb and got told to stop using my skills I would un-equip my gear and stand around telling that person to tank because tanking is a skill too really

You CAN turn the efects off. Tell Mr. "I cant see because of all the shaking" to
    1] open his system menu
2] click on the UI button
3] move the "Effects" slider (dur) near the botom of the window all the way off and no graphic effects will ever bother him again. He may decide to turn them part way up to know when someone is casting spells, or to see the pretty weapon glow effects again.

People with less capable systems who turn effects al the way up do so at thier own, lagging, peril.

b:sad Well I can't say any real skills shake the screen but the melee classes. b:surrender I have a particular complaint when a melee is running from a magic heals back up and fights the mob near me shaking me out of my trance-state b:irritated quite a bugger there but only a minor annoyance not worth obscenities.

playing the game with suitable equipment is the responsibility of the player. if he lags because he doesn't have a good enough comp then he shouldn't be demanding other players to cater to him, much less being rude about it.

stone rain is like the best spell against the particular mob OP was dealing with, and not using it means the wizard risk having a weaker combo thus getting hit more often. if that guy wants the wiz to stop using stone rain, then he should have asked to squad with her and be her tank. it's like demanding all the catshops in w arch to clear out so that I can walk through there and turn in my CS lag free, complete BS right?
