Genie Won't Listen

So I came back after oh so many patches and I noticed one thing: Tree of Protection on my genie has become darkened, so they nerfed and restated the skill. Fine, I had 2 points to spare so i tweaked my genie where it met the required affinity again. Guess what? The skill shows as active(not Dimmed) and every time i try to cast it it says Unable to use skill. h4lp pl0x

    I think it has a level requirement of 31 now.

    It could have to do with the fact you don't have enough lucky points.

    Lucky points now define how many skill slots you have.. If you don't have enough any skills "extra" you had before the reset would be greyed out.

    maybe, but thats the thing, the skill ISNT gryed out, but still wont work

    how many LP and how many skills does it have? and what "spot" is the skill in?

    The new system did the following to the genie (as well as nurf a handful of other skills)

    Lucky Points 0-50: 4 Skill Slots
    Lucky Points 51-70: 5 Skill Slots
    Lucky Points 71-80: 6 Skill Slots
    Lucky Points 81-90: 7 Skill Slots
    Lucky Points 91 or more: 8 Skill Slots

    Genies that have more skills than the maximum amount allowed after this change will have the excess skills grayed out and unavailable. You will need to unlearn skills until the amount is appropriate to the maximum skill allowed.


    Tree of Protection - Reduced base energy cost to 70. Increased base Stamina cost to 700. Requisite Affinity: Wood 3, Water 4. Genie Level Requisite and Spirit: 31 (2780), 36 (4000), 41 (5620), 46 (7780), 51 (10640), 56 (14480), 61 (19660), 66 (26600), 71 (36200), 76 (59000). Genie Strength determines Max HP increase. Genie Dexterity determines the amount of HP restored during the effect.

    could be the lucky point thing, although the skill isn't grayed out. And I had the skill maxed, its second from the left, so out of all of them why that one? First it wouldnt work because i didnt have enough affinity for it(it was gray), i corrected that nao its no longer gray but still wotn work , must be the lucky points.

    Check the level of your tree of protection. With the level tweaks, my level of tree of protection is not now obtainable for the level of my genie. I have level 9 Tree of protection with a level requirement of level 71 on my genie. My genie is level 60. This happened after the nerf patch so it was legal before that patch and non functioning now.

    It could just be some stupid thing where your current ToP is wired to work on the old affinities. Maybe you could re-learn the skill?

    Though I don't remember having to do that when the patch came in...

    If tree of protection is maxed genie must be lvl 76. Lvl 9 ToP needs a lvl 71 genie. I had the same problem

    They also changed the affinities required for that skill, so you may want to make sure you have the correct numbers on the affinities.
    Too often we loose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown, BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap that mother#$@%#^! upside the head.

    There's your problem. You need to either get your genie to level 76, or delete the skill, learn it again and level it up as high as it will go.

    The skill is really worth it unless you have a high dex stat on your genie imo. If you do have a high-dex genie it's pretty awesome though.

    this is why right here the lvl requisite changed on that spell for the genie delete it and relearn the spell

    Don't need to delete the skill. You can unlearn genie skills level by level. Just unlearn lvl10 to lvl9.

    The ToP healing is awesome for a tank type non squishy toon.
    The healing can be improved by both str and dex figures. less% of more HP can equivalent to more% healing of a lesser HP. The heal would be totally awesome if you had a pure str genie which could manage 3 ticks (i.e 9 seconds duration). Though I think that would need a heck of a lot of str (180 I think?).

    I've found you get far better return from having pure dex. A dex of around 80-100 will pretty much fully heal you if tree is at lv10.
