Cannot create a character?

Right.

So I downloaded the game, manually pathed it to the 212 version.

I start the game, choose a server and try to create a character.

However, the Start button is blocking the 'create' button. I can't click on it, and even when I hit it, it does absolutely nothing.

So, is there something I'm missing?

    I don't know..but did i just DL patch 1 for no reason....possible nerd rage coming up

    Ah dude don't get me starting on how long this game takes to patch.

    I mean, my first instinct was to just hit the patcher and let it do the work, right?

    Well, turns out, that'll take like what? 4 hours? Wasn't until about an hour after that I went to the forums and clicked a signature link that took me to the patch I needed.

    So far, I've spent like 5 hours just downloading and trying to actually GET IN THE GAME AND PLAY.

    So far, I'm not impressed.

    well i was a little miffed at the fact that you cant just downlaod the game and play straight away, but its been out a while and in the end EVERY game gets patched..so i just sat here mooching around the forums...Still not sure if im getting the right patch 166 or something...BUT after looking at some more areas of the forum..I noticed there are like 5 more patches >.< So this could take a while.

    In the meantime, what server are you planning on joining? I was thinking Heavens Tears :D

    I dunno. Harshlands seems to be the one with the least ping, so.. I'll prolly go for that.

    But I really don't mind. As long as it lets me play the damn game I'm not bothered either way.

    how does one find out pingage etc? im not sure about PvP servers, kinda had enough of the constant ganking on other MMORPG's

    At the top of the log-in screen there is a box where you can change servers, and it shows their ping.

    As for PvP, well, I hate being killed early on in the game, but I just know I'll miss it once I get high enough to do it.

    If I can actually play the damn game, that is. Haha.

    Even if we gain no help from this banter...Atleast it bump's the post, Are you all patched up to date?.Maybe this is why you can't log/create

    I looked in the download section, and 212 is the highest any of them goes too, so I'm pretty sure I should be able to play.

    This is what my 'create a character' screen looks like.
    As you can see, the Create button is partly blocked, and even when I hit the part that is NOT blocked, nothing happens.

    Click the Settings button on the launcher and turn up the Resolution.

    how can you function with a screen that small?

    and yea, that's your problem as surtr said, resolution is waaaaay too low

    Ah, hey, it worked, thanks!

    Still, it sure would've helped to have some sort of notification in the client that told me that, so that I wouldn't have had to waste my time.

    You know, something like "Don't use the default resolution as this will unable you to create a character."
