Serious problem! Need help!

Ok, so I recently downloaded the game onto Windows XP, because my hard drive crashed on my old computer and has to be replaced. I'm playing on a new (and somewhat less capable comp). And I was able to launch it. Here's the problem. Every time I click on something during gameplay it takes me back to my desktop. Naturally this makes gameplay impossible. What's going on?

    Did you alt+tab or maximize back into the game since the time you start it? I had this before and just fixed it by either playing PW or not playing. Because this happens whenever i minimize it and put it back up.

    I think I fixed it, but I'm getting lag that I've never had before. Also, can't play in window mode.
