    Nah, that's just the drunk idiots/chav kids that like to mess around and annoy the neighbours. Tonight is the only official celebration (of some poor guy that tried to blow up the government and got hung, drawn and quatered for his efforts, all those years back). This weekend should see the local councils put on larger fireworks displays though.

    People do celebrate some very odd things sometimes. Just look up various holidays at random, and you'll find the weirdest things sometimes (mostly non religious ones. Those are an entirely different ballgame). This is one of these oddities in our society. A man tries to blow up an important building, gets caught, and for some reason it becomes a national holiday.

    Or my own very special holiday, October 14th at 1am: Infernoversary.

    To commemorate an ex of mine for blowing up his house and turning himself into a burn victim after he got faced and poured petrol on a fire.
