Arena Suggestion

I've always seen the Arena NPC in the large cities, but I do not know what they are used for. But this is something, I want to suggest PWI.
When you talk to the Arena NPC there should be an option where you can register that your squad of six wants to participate the Arena. When they are Registered, they are required to wait for another squad of six to register as well. While one of the squad is waiting, they pretty much can do anything but must be in the squad until there is another squad registered to compete against them. When there are two squads ready, they will be teleported to another place/room and given countdown to start the arena.
The Arena will have modes to pick from, Elimination and Death Match. Possibly more modes... but lets start with the easy and simple stuff first. Elimination is what the name suggests, eliminate the other squad of six before your own squad get eliminated first. This mode should be done in best out of 3 format. The Death Match is pretty much kill as many as you kill within a limited time, whichever squad has the most kills win. There should be also a safezone in this arena for each side, to prevent spawn camping or at least some kind of invulnerability to let the person who just spawned to be prepared.
Another feature that this Arena can have is that it shouldn't be limited within server. It should be linked between all the server. I've read numerous threads about PvE server players are not as good as the PvP players in pk. With this implanted we can actually find out who is better b:victory. This is a great opportunity to increase the interaction between servers and and players.b:cute
With this being said, there will be a rank system to keep track who is the top performer. The reward for being top ranked players should give them the privilege to not need to buy a boutique item to enter the arena. Players who are not ranked, they are required to purchase a particular item in order to enter the arena. Maybe some kind of pass? For example, the pass can let the player who purchased it enter the arena 5 times? The number is subjective, but its an idea to let the developer get more profit b:chuckle. **Just hope its a reasonable price for it**. Possibly different kind of rewards for the top ranked players, but this is just a start for brainstorming.
My favourite thing in PWI is TW, but when TW is dominated by one faction the game becomes bored and not as fun. This will encourage players to try out pk in PvE servers too. Another thing I want to suggest is, something like mass participation in the arena, but lets take one step at a time. I'll just throw it out so people can add in more ideas anyways.b:surrender
Also, there should be different category for the arena. Say lv.19-29,30-49,50-59,60-69,70-79,80-89,90+? This would balance the arena a bit. I'm aware of balance issues, but those should be minor conflicts for now.

I think this is a great idea. This will let each server see how other players play. You never know people on a different server might play a different way.0

I like the idea.
But someone correct me if i'm wrong, but there is a actual working arena (60+) in PW I believe.
Secondly, I'm no computer specialist here, but if my thinking is correct, you have to think of each server as a separate running CPU (but much, much bigger of course). So think of a room with 6 pretty large computers running in it. Each computer is an entity in and of itself. They are not interconnected so as to lower stress on each CPU. For players to appear on another server, they're information has to be compiled, loaded onto a removable storage device, and physically moved to another server...
... at least I think that's right.
IF it is right then I believe that's the reason why cross-server battles would be nigh on impossible[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Quick spoons! Plug the flash drive with the Lost City faction into the Heaven's Tear computer while they're still on the loading screen![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

*gets a mental image of many GMs all running into each other trying to plug flashdrives into different servers*b:laugh
Then, they drop several at the same timeb:chuckle
That would be some mix-up...
Faction Leader: "errr.... this was suppose to be Dreamweaver... why are we on Lost City? o.O"[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I know this would involve some complicated computer programming, but if it does put into effect, it will increase the overall value of the game. It'll definitely drive more people into PWI as well.0

I used to play another MMO years ago, the name of which I won't mention. The PvP in that game was pretty cool in my opinion. I can't remember if there was more than just one server that hosted the game at this point, however I do know that within the server I played on, there were different "realms". Each realm was a completely different map with completely different races and classes. If I recall correctly, once you hit level 15+ you received a battlefield teleport item. You could then go to a specific NPC in your realm - the battlefield teleporter - and (obviously) teleport to the battlefield. Once inside the battlefield you were pitted against the other two realms in a struggle for control of the center keep. Each realm had its own point keep (spawn area) and a nice chunk of land to traverse before reaching the bridge to get to the center keep island. sometimes the realm controlling the center keep would coordinate a raid into the opposing realms' land to keep them at bay, other times the battle would be taking place right outside the center keep - with the purpose being to "kick in the door" (so to speak). This was an ongoing battle. no weekly schedule or bidding to participate (also no income for "winning") - just sheer PvP fun for the sake of PvP at any time you wanted to PvP. The game was also geared towards level appropriate PvP'ing as well such that every 15 levels, you'd be ported to a different battlefield with players appropriate for your level - this kept the n00b levels from getting one shot all the time, making it more fun for all involved, and much less frustrating.
outside of the battlefield - PvP was only in the form of dueling, so you didn't have to worry about getting ganked while questing (my number one pet peeve about the PvP system in this game, and hence why I rolled PvE after leaving MY version of PW.) and members of the other realms simply didn't exist in your realm.
anywhoo.. yah. I miss that system of realm v. realm and level appropriate pvp. sorry for the ramble, but the thread got me somewhat reminiscent of it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I think your arena suggestion is very good, i will add to your ideas that in the arena the participating teams cannot use charms, only HP and MP potions, not recurection scrolls only clerics rez. And it is not nessesery to add many modes only one kill its other, it is very simple.0
