when cash shoppers had to spend a ton of money to be significantly overpowered.b:bye0
-
When gold charms were 500k, and I got my blue love-star-crossed-something or other (have sold it since) shirt (female) for 200k.
Granted, I joined near the end of the good ol' days. >>' Before summer of this year.0 -
When I bought gold for 80k each each without AH taxes.I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.0 -
Before greed took over, meaning people were actually nice.
I'd buy 2-3 gold a day after my daily grind. It was all my money each night. Saved up, got myself the skymanta shade, which was the best untamed flyer in the cash shop at that time. I also maxed my bank and inventory doing that.Main characters

when i worked my **** of to grind some coin to by my 1st fashion set (sundrop) and i felt so proud, and fashion was still a luxury back then ^^
guess what it cost 700k for the whole set or near there0 -
When people actually grinded for levels. Grinding was actually fun (getting crashed, crashing others, grind parties)0
-
when this game actually had a stable economy, and was free 2 play (as in, even if u cash shopped, u wouldn't be over-powered)."No matter how dark the world is,
light shall exist somewhere,
even if only a small sliver,
a light found among darkness,

When there was World shouts for FBs and not BH's...LVL xx looking for squad for FB51 etc... yes the good old days how I miss them.0
-
...when CS wasn't so expensive.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
And now faith, hope, and charity remain; but the greatest of these is charity.0 -

When everyone wasn't trying to off each other, when we could reach our goals in a day (money and game-play wise), and when saving for marriage was a thing to look forward to and not dreaded. - _ -[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Let's see, I have so many good memories...
-As a lvl 10 wizard wandering around Etherblade, seeing those giant yeti looking mobs outside the gates and daring myself to try to fight one [joined right during the Christmas event]. Took me forever to kill but I felt so accomplished. Also listening to the snowmen talk. And the thousands of chi stones I picked up but NPCed later because I had no idea what they were for.
-The days of charms being 350k
-Grind mobs. All I did was grind the 50s-60s-70s. Vampiric nightstalkers then Minions of Alucards then Butterflies. Buy an eso, grind for an hour, another eso, another hour, and a big feeling of accomplishment when I leveled. That was when I was richest in game, until very recently. I hardly see 5x-6x grind anymore.
-Assault on Archosaur event! Everyone complained about the lag but I had a ton of fun going to the highest lvl area and having 8x and 9x characters begging me for rezzes when one of the monsters massively AOEd. I didn't get to attack much, got barely any drops, but it was sure fun.
-When there was good morning messages when the servers reset.
-Seeing all the worldchats for zhens and FBs instead of BH
-Farming TT1-1. Or rather, me, going in with a crazy veno with a herc (not everyone had them back then) and trying to follow without getting killed. I'd get one or two drops and be able to sell them for 90-100k each, when TT60 weps were actually worth something.
-20k Dragon orbs when they went on sale.
-When that giant Nien Beast was in Archosaur and for days people kept attacking it, despite its label reading "Immune to Damage". The first time I saw it no one would go near; we were all scared. I don't even remember what event that was for, but it was something in game and fun.
-In general, when maint wasn't about what sale came next but rather what cool in game event there would be, and when the complaints were more about in game issues like mold stealing and oracle ksing b:laugh.
Reminds me of how much fun this game was b:surrender0 -
I first started during the Christmas event too, so for about 10 levels I stayed in Plume killing snowmen and NPCing Wuhsing stones for money. I didn't go NEAR the giant level 150 ones, though <__<
..Oh, and 90k gold. ;^; People were QQing then if it went up to 120k. Ha![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Twilight Temple = HH. All the cool kids are saying it.

Thank you Skybelle for the wonderful sig

When I was so entranced by the game on my veno that I used to flip everywhere and just go back and forth from fox form just to watch the animations.
The few hours between Closed Beta and Open Beta, sitting on Skype with people and waiting anxiously for the servers to re-open.
Never caring about other people. As a low level it didn't matter to me that Susy Veno had a better level 30 weapon than me, mine worked and that was that. I was happy with my equips all the time even if they were crappy (and they most certainly were, my gear has a crappy precedent).
Thought about this after I posted...When the GMs used to reply to WC because despite cheap gold, not everyone had teles so only certain people could talk to them through there. I remember someone saying the GM was too scared to talk out loud to warn her for spamming, instead of whispering, so the GM scolded her in system messages b:chuckle[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

the good old days of last year/early spring, when venos with well trained golems and caught pets were respected, and those with hercs were thought of as 'rich cheats' (...quote from a guild leader back then).
the good old days when people on WC who used filthy language got publicly slapped down and banned by the GMs as soon as it happened. (God, i would give anything for that to start again!!!!!!)
the good old days when people who knew you needed a particular type of rare pet, but didnt have the money for it, and would let you pay in installments, or even halve the price, or just give it to you, and who cared about the money that could have been made selling it. back then, people cared about each other, even strangers. venos i knew would go out and practise catching pets, and bring the results back to Col, and either hand them to new players, or drop them where they could be found.
the good old days when people would give away their practise crafts, rather than melting them down into stones to feed genies. (thank you, HotFudge, Swordlegend, Tiessa and others, who gave me things back then. they are still in use by my alts, a year later!)
the good old days....when we were all here for *fun*, not profit.to play the game as it was intended, not turning it into a game version of the money hell we live in IRL....Altros - Sanctuary wrote: »when this game actually had a stable economy, and was free 2 play (as in, even if u cash shopped, u wouldn't be over-powered).[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

ah good memories...
i start around last year's jolly old jone event and loved the atk lvl +30 for the month.
-loved the cheap gold charms, eso.
-loved the zhen parties
-loved that people actually use wc for party seeking and fun conversation, instead of the disgusting behaviors of all those egocentric people that want to show off their epeen.
-loved the colorful maps or even the few colored territories (not all lands were claimed back then and not just owned by one big faction)
-loved the snowmen in cities that gave so much exp, sp and other stuff (dice tickets which i got heaps and didn't have a clue what to do with them)
-loved that the green glow were only seen occasionally instead of everywhere
-loved that everyone had a fair chance of accomplishing certain goals
and certainly loved those post server reset message.

man, i do miss that. the little funnies in WC before the game would go off for maint, kantorak going to archo to pal around with folks, the messages that came in at midnight (always reminded me i was up too late again! ^_^).
having the visible presence of a GM on WC curbed so much of the language problem, and with one on, you knew you could be sure of getting help for a disaster, like a major boss pull/mass PK. having them pop into the game made troublemakers realise there actually was an authority figure who could discipline them. now, no GMs ingame, we have to send in tickets, and hope we dont get a form letter back....Santacruz - Heavens Tear wrote: »+1

Omg yes, I miss pk wars at fish, where whole guilds would come out.
I miss when TW's took 3 hours. I miss huge pk battles in the swamps. I miss pking in SP. I miss people not qqing so much about pking, they took it in stride and didn't report you.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

When a level 19 actually did their own fb 19s XDMost Ironic phrase in the English language is Common Sense, its easiest concept to understand yet few people ever grasp it.
~Silver0 -
I miss the GM presence in every server. Them joking on world chat, them wandering around in game, showing off the future expansion goodies, or future mounts. Them watching PK events or even holding duel events, or just simply wandering around in Arch or a random little town....
I miss the "Mornings are vital" messages. While they were inappropriate for non-americans, it was still nice to see a system message, sometimes even an actual GM, remind us that its midnight server time.
I miss how many tele's I would blow goofing off on world chat with GM's and others, it was good simple fun, now world chat is filled with immature little cash shoppers who spam world chat with sensless things like "brb afk" and "Im back!" and treat world chat like its their own little faction chat window.
I miss seeing in game events, attack on archosaur, snowman event (couldve made a Headless Horseman event, where headless horsemen (from gamma) would run through arch and you would have to kill them and gain prizes.
I miss there being just a few tolerable glitches, and not having a handful come out every patch, and then be ignored.
I miss seeing people actually work for their accomplishments, and feeling for them when they proudly show off their awesome gear that they worked so hard for, not bought off the cash shop.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
