A particular question about marriage

Is it possible to marry someone who is the same sex as you? I looked through the first 20 pages and the 2 sticky beginners guides on the top of the front page. I may have missed something but I don't think I did. I am truly sorry if I did or if there is another place with this question, but would very much appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.

    Nope, not possible. There has been much debate over whether or not they should allow it, but the long and short of it is that it probably will never happen.

    Oh I wouldn't think them geared towards religeous thinking considering they have mages in the game.

    It has nothing to do with Christianity, if that's what you're thinking.

    The game's origins are in China. The Chinese do not support homosexuality simply due to tradition. Since a homosexual couple cannot procreate, it disrupts the family's lineage.

    In addition, there could be some religious foundation to it, but certainly not anything Christian. In Taoism, women and men are yin and yang respectively. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but due to how much the game draws from Taoism, it's possible.

    Tolerance for homosexuality is slowly growing in China, but just as it is in America, Europe, and other developed countries there will always be people who disagree for some reason or another. China still does not legally allow same sex marriage.

    Thank you for clarifying that. Still this is not china and I think it should be adapted from whatever culture it is made for to whatever culture it moves to.

    I definitely agree, but this game is limited due to the fact that it's origins are elsewhere. >,<

    Really wish PWI could get it's own devs so it wouldn't be so reliant on the other version for updates and fixes. :(

    You mean like the liberal US where the Federal government still does not recognize same sex... or where its "cultural advanced" military will not accept any soldier that is openly ****? Maybe you are talking about the 45 states that do not recognize same sex unions..... or the few that make it a crime to have such a union.....

    Or maybe you are talking the far more liberal europeans, where only 4 countries recognize same sex unions, and where at least a dozen have jail time for such unions....

    Please tell me how this is any different...

    PS - PWE is located in California, which, no longer recognizes same-sex marriages, so I guess, the game does reflect the local culture and believes, since voters chose to make it that way.

    Why do people care so much? It is not like they are committing the sin if you view it as such. If you don't see it that way then it shouldn't matter to you, what do you care you know? You are not gonna burn in hell cause the couple two blocks over are two women and get married. I think it doesn't matter what the governments want, it doesn't matter what more local governments want it doesn't even matter what the person down the street wants. If you are in love why shouldn't you be able to marry that person? Especially in America where merely denying the right is illegal in itself on the federal level. Based on the Separation of government and religion law and the equal rights acts. Not to mention it goes against the ideas our country was founded on where all should be equal and should not be governed by the religious system. But as for the game why not simply request the change and even if they don't want to change it themselves but give permission for this version to change it then they could. I doubt it would be a huge amount of programming.

    You made the comment about local culture, I simply pointed out that local culture is actualy against it. The voters decided to not recognize, so it is what the people want. IF you are not happy with what the voters chose, than join a your local organization and work to make a difference.

    At this point you are just trying to force your believes on the majority (since the vote had to pass by a majority of votes), which is equaly wrong.

    Not everything is covered by equal rights. Just because women get to use the women's locker room, it does not mean that men also have the right to use the women's lockerroom, no matter how much they want and how much that is discrimination against men not being able to use women lockerrooms.

    How about you tell your mate to change to the opposite sex you are and then get marry, then change back to the sex you was originally. Im assuming that being Hawk says theres no way to marry the same sex, and i've seen two of the same genders married, It must of been originally Boy & Girl then became Girl & Girl being that the boy changed his sex? Can you even change your sex on this game lol?

    Even though the PWE is in california the game came from china, and most likely have to follow china's rules such as homosexual marriages and other stuff china disapproves or approves of. No matter what of china sent the games files or whatever else there is containing this game it has to follow china's restrictions.

    If The game is no part of china then it's the games decision whether or not homosexual marriages will be admitted or not. from what im seeing since california doesn't accept those type of marriages then thats a no.

    I have a friend who is openly ****. He doesn't do all that Fab 5 kind of stuff or purposefully talk with a lisp, but he does not hide his sexuality at all. He even owned the LGBT guild on the server I played in another MMO.

    He's now in the military, and hasn't changed his orientation or the way he expresses himself.

    And what is your point? There are laws in place that address that, and if you do a quick search on the web, you will see how many cases of long serving service people that have been dismissed there are in the US.
    Everyone knows someone that has done something or other, that does not invalidate the point, that according to you, this game should follow local culture. Since this game is located in California, USA, you are looking at local believes. Those believes do not recognize same sex marraige, as voters showed in the last elections.

    No commenting on the being right or wrong of it, just trying to point out that the facts are that in the US, and in California, same sex is not recognized, therefore the argument of "adapting to the local cuture" that you used is not valid.

    When trying to make suggestions and trying to convince the devs to change something, it helps when the arguments used actualy can be verified and are in fact, supporting your argument.

    In this case, you support same sex marriages, and use the argument that the game needs to use local culture, instead of Chinese, however, the local culture is to not recognize the very same thing you are trying to support.

    Good arguments to support would be that we are all equal, not matter what. Or that everyone deserves to be happy, etc. Statement that you can support with your arguments, not statements that your own arguments are against.

    The thing is it shouldn't be up to anyone other than the people in love weather or not they get married. What right does a perfect stranger have to dictate something so important to you but has nothing to do with them? Local culture aside, if you want to marry someone of the same sex why shouldn't you be able to? It does not hurt anyone. It doesn't cause horrible consequences. If your religious its not your sin. Who cares you know? Those who are against it are people that are not homosexual or bisexual and therefor are biased in their judgement and cant give an accurate opinion of the subject. The truth of the matter is You shouldn't be able to dictate how someone you don't know lives just because you don't aprove of it.
