Rb Gamma Questions

First off, yes I know there is another thread for this. However, that guy is LA, and I am arcane. Anyways, Atm my wiz is lvl 69, with 320 magic (pure magic) and 1,550 hp. DB is level 1 atm, and fire mastery is 10. I also have 1.3k phys def with 0 buffs in arcane, about 4k with all buffs. So I was wondering, how much hp am I going to need, how should I get it, and so on? Because I figure that If i just dump a bunch of vit in for rb, I am going to kill mobs outside of rb much slower because I will have much less power. That worries me because what if I can hardly even find rb squads? Anyways, Please feel free to suggest what hp I should get, and where to get it from, as well as what level db. Also, I should mention I am going to use a +3 Sakyumunis light, so don't want to steal too much aggro if level 1 db would still do good damage. Thanks in advance for the time and advice.

At lvl 70, you won't find a RB squad anyway.

Though besides that, I'm currius to.

HP should be gotten through sharding and that's it. Just finished a gv last night actually. I had ~2100 hp unbuffed and we did fine. The gv squad is really dependant on the barb and to a lesser degree the other DD. If the barb doesn't know how to keep agg off of you then it's a guarenteed loss every time.

The ea comes into play if the barb dies. Then it's time to play agg tag. Lots of appo pots are a must. Dmg absorbtion, reduction, event pots, instant hp, etc. You should get a mana aura first so you can keep your db and the ea can rain arrows all day. Get db to lvl 10 if you're pure because you need to do as much damage as quick as possible since we can't survive the waves as well.

Get chi aura, hp aura, and mana to 2 after the first boss. Most of the time you will be getting beans during bosses. If you dont have holy path get it because it's a long trek back. I wouldn't do it until at very least 77 so you have most of your 7x gear. Have ~2600 pdef minimum with just your earth shield.

Again, level your db and find a barb who keeps agg off you. DO NOT run with squads who have wiz take agg EVER. When the last boss comes stay out of it's range. This goes for any robe wearers. It will one shot you over and over. Just try and DD the best you can and when its almost dead watch the others do the work.

Bring ~100 of ea hp/mp pots your level and store them for the next run (I think I've used 20). Remember sometimes things go wrong (like horseman) and you need to tank for a minute. Enjoy the spamming of the 38232 different kinds of pots you have...and tree. Watch everyone sweat when you have 20 hp left and everyone gets awesome stories when you complete it.

Just remember as a pure build we need damage...all of it. Don't worry about agg that's the wb's job and to a lesser degree the wr.

OH and I forgot I do this totally charmless...so those are optional ^.^

I hope that will not be automatically true (though I plan on not reaching 70 until some time next year).

[If you have good enough magic attack, physical defense, health, and maybe leveled dragon's breath a level 70 might be able to out-do a so-so level 85.]

The reason this is true is because your gear will not allow you to survive in a rebirth until the upper thresholds of the 70's. Not to mention db nor masteries can't be maxed til 74 anyway. So, it's not a slap or anything it's just near impossible and you have to dump way to much money into gear you won't have long. Especially if you're doing rebirth where u get ~1m xp from each run.

From my experience, wizards under lvl 75 get autokicked from rb-squads if they aren't uber cs-wizzies and friends of someone else inside the squad. If you have a good faction, you could be lucky but at current charm costs it's pretty unlikely.
After 75, LA wizards are prefered due to higher hp/phy defense but again it depends mostly on your gear, so you got enough chance as pure as well.
After 80 every average geared wizard should have no problems getting into a gv squad.

Oh and some sidenotes that helped me alot and still help me:

Always get the highest dragon breath/fire mastery possible and, obviously, best weapon.

If you got space on your genie/got an additional genie: Add cauterize and put some points into dex/str. RB mobs can stack a huge chunk of bleed on you. The only reasons I die in RBs now is either when the barb dies or he poorly holds aggro and when cauterize is on cooldown the mobs bleed me too much.

Get tree of protection/second wind. I have none of them but some people told me it helps.

Pop a dew of god protection before the double wave and then restart DB.

Not really a help, but... get either BT or BIDS to lvl 9. Single sparked , undined, extreme poisoned crits on a dragoned/amped boss in there = pure awesomeness b:dirty

Not a wizard expert but, know gamma pretty well. Im sure that 1500hp will NOT be sufficient for an entire gamma run without deaths (unless your barb is god himself). You will die pretty quickly with that hp when you steal aggro. I recommend at least 3000hp unbuffed or so (plus or minus a bit). Without 28b:victory00, you will get 1 hit by last boss for sure (AA).

I dropped the worry on the way-

The reason why you won't find squads seeking level 70s for gamma is because gamma starts at level 71.

That being said, if you're arcane just pump your armor full of pdef and HP shards. I started gamma as an arcane at level 73 or so and I haven't died unless the barb is extremely terrible at holding aggro. You just have to learn to control your own aggro with DB (different weapons ,etc etc).

For example, I use both Sak's light and Endless Ambiguity in gamma. Mostly, Sak is for the waves and EA is for bosses/lanterns, though I occasionally unequip my weapon while DBing to not steal too much aggro.

EDIT: I have level 10 fire mastery. For an arcane, don't up your DB beyond 5 or 6, or you'll almost DEFINITELY pull aggro from the barb, due to the damage output. LAs, afaik, should have both at 10.

I'll have to disagree here. I have both maxed and the only agg I really get is what the barb lets me get...and the occasional 3 crits in a row. I think it winds up being find a squad that you run comfortably with and a style you are accustomed to playing and some practice will get you to win. I personally play a higher mag atk than most, but I know people who prefer crit's, higher pdef, more hp, etc.

I am currently LA but I did do Gamma's as an arcane and here is what I learned.

    1) You NEED at least 1.5k phys def unbuffed if you want to survive with low HP.

    2) If you can't get 1.5k phys def unbuffed you NEED 3k hp unbuffed (some wizards will disagree with me but this is what I have learned).

    3) Apothecary items are a MUST. Dew of God Protection is the most valuable item you have in a gamma because it absorbs 3k damage.

    4) For genie Wind Shield is a good skill to have, it lowers all damage you take for a certain amount of time.

    5) An hp charm is required for any build, LA or arcane. You will die without one, sometimes even with one depending on the barb.

    6) Finally, leveling up Dragon's Breath to 10 is a smart thing to do. If the barb knows what he is doing you still wont take much aggro until later stages but after you start taking a lot of aggro you switch weapons.

This is my two cents, this is just my experience in gamma as an arcane wizard. But I would advise considering going LA for gamma then pure at 90+. LA helps greatly with survivibality.
