split armor

ok first of all ill define the term "split armor"

the name says it all its an armor setup with 1/2 light 1/2 heavy armor...sounds silly right?

the idea behind this setup is to greatly increase the bm in questions maq resist (without gimping our phys like pure LA would do and it leaves all your sockets open for hp sharding instead of magic def ones) at a neligable cost to their phys by wearing either heavy armor wrists and boots with a LA chest and legs or heavy chest legs and light wrists boots

now most of you are shouting dumb dumb dumb at this point...hear me out

the thing is at higher levels 7x+ you run into a wonderfull factor of pwi known as diminishing returns. for example at level 70 the differance between 6k phys resist and 8k is only a 5% damage reduction at 80 that same 2k differance is about 3% and at engame its a mere 1% change

useing the la main heavy outpeice build you can get 3k base maq resists wich raises your survivability against wizzies clerics venos and archers (this is without factoring your defence ornaments)
using main heavy offpeice la you can acheive about 2.6k without buffs or ornaments

remember these bounuses are magnified greatly with buffs and well +ed ornaments

i find this is a rather good setup for low vit bm's (all weapon, fist axe, axe sword etc)

so ya...just throwing the idea out there folks (thanks to telarith for the ideab:thanks)

endnote: aperently most endgame fists already use a similar version of this build

discuss flame mock whatever...just wanted to get the idea out there folksb:bye

and if anyone with more experiance than me wants to step in with formulas or endgame setup info please do would be much apreciated (i use LA main HA boots/wrists and love it)

Think you will find archers are phys att not magical

i find this is a rather good setup for low vit bm's (all weapon, fist axe, axe sword etc)

If you are an all weapon BM it doesnt mean you have low vit, for one you dont need to gimp your build by having current fists/claws, using ones below your current level still gives you the benifit of using the skills.

About the armour set up. How much protection does that give ? if it doesnt reduce the mag dmg by atleast an extra 10% then imo anything less than that not worth it

gives me 6.4k phys resist with my bell on and 3.8k of each maq (water is at 4k....i fear the dragon) friend of mine is full heavy with 3 beautifull saphs in each peice of his armor and 2 maq ornaments and only has 2.5k resists...so its a noticable increase even more so when buffed

also once archers get a little gigher than lvl 12b:chuckle they use somkin called the thundershock combo

thundershock to lower the maq resist then several high damage metal attacks
this can be lethal to a full heavy bm up to 10 lvls above the archer with low refined maq ornaments (yes a good bm knows ways around it but this is armor thread not tactics)

also i have 3 vit total w/o my gears lol have managed to get me hp back up to 3.7k with sharding though

and gimp my build by using current weapons?...wth realy (my main weapon IS fist)

sry for posting my own stats so much...but as i have yet to meet another bm with the same/similar build its all i can go off of atmb:surrender

and before anyone brings this up yes this works just fine for aoe grinding tanking as well (those nasty maq attacks from pyro dont hurt near as bad lol)

I like the idea. Im using all weapons now so it would be something cool to try with that. Im using fists that are 1 grade lower though so i can have some extra vit.

Squishy... the best kind of BM b:victory

myth#1 bm's all wear full heavy and so they must have horribal maq resist

myth#2 if their dumb enough to wear LA or use fists they mmust have low str thus low damage

myth#3 bm's have low acc and evade

myth#4 bm vs barb is just charm ****

    heres how these are usefull

people with perconcived notions like this one *looks up, points at barb* are one of the things that allow for this build to work

archers (even the ones i pk/pvp/duel against reguraly) continue to try to kill me with metal damage even though then know the build and they see my maq marrow on

    clerics...see archers

wizzies the 8x ones are a pain...undine ulti realy hurts if they jump ya but 9 times out of 10 you will still be able to close with them

other bm's...im not touchin this topic with a 31 and 1/2 ft pole this is how flame wars beginb:shocked

barbs...walking in my armor one day bored run acrost a barb.."go away dex lover the real tanks are playing" the peices of that one feed my huggy hare for weeksb:chuckle

im not saying these people are fail or that their in any way bad at their class...theres just no predetermined strategies against anything but a full HA axe bm (look at the other class discusions folks)

though i would like to thank Lazyelve for developing the HOLY **** josh just sparked RUN!!! strategem....you have forever irked me well done lol

(can tank any boss up to pyro btw...though i need 2 clerics for that one)

and remember im recomending this build to my fellow low vit/DD bm's not walking hp vats

pardon me but i dont understand why you need LA to DDb:surrender

its not needed really but the need for physical defence is reduced when you dont intend to be taking hits from a boss and in pvp a heavy DD bm will get nuked by the maq classes in one or 2 hits w/o high resists due to our lower hp its also good on aoe bosses since i find i can just self heal with sutra and let our clerics help the squishies/keep the tank alive

    hope that helpsb:bye

imo, dual armour is always a good idea. good p-def mixed with good m-def? sounds like a winning combo to me.
Allnighte - knn read pwdatabase laio, rank6 weap needs all of the badges la.
rank8 laio just la needs laio rep la

Naevo - o wait dis be pw-my-en? ding dong la
