i mean i know you can.. you just have to experiment with differnt mobs...at different levels..
the Huggy Hare at 70 i want that..... and there is that big white bear im not sure what level he is...
Right now im usually using my florafang (66), my little bunny (66) and i just got a skikou Valorian (60).. and i have a foxwing (62) now all of my pets still have the level of attacks they came with.. if i were to keep these pets and kept leveling them along with myself...they do get stronger or is that wrong??.. truthfully i never paid attention... so im asking.. lol i suposed with leveling of pet the stronger it is getting...
and i am aware to level a skill i have to purchace that from the zoogolist.. .. right... so if i saved my coins and updated these guys skills after a while they could be just as worth while in the long run because i made them that much more stronger??
any help or suggesttion with yr experiences without herc or phonix..would be greatly appreaciated..

I'm not worked up, but I do want you to understand how you sound.
I don't know how it is for you in-game but I think there's always been respect here for how you play your character. It's certainly not the norm.
All the rest of us ask if that you respect how we play ours.
The same reason that I don't call you a "loser" (lol << this makes it ok, right?) is the same reason I don't want to be called "lazy" for owning herc and a phoenix.
I respect your game, Kitten, but you're making yourself look bad.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I'm currently level 51 and have a Magmite, Eldergoth Sharpshooter for Instance purposes. However, when I have reached Frost Covered Grounds, I know there's no way for my Magmite to be able to tank the Elite mobs there.
I have tried to lure one of the Hexcelot and tanked it with Magmite. Despite my constant spam healing, I was still unable to overcome that challenge given to me by the stubbron old man.
Long story short, I overcame my misgivings about spending $125 USD on the Herc and it has opened up previously closed avenues to me. I can solo FB 19 29 maybe even 39, as I have tanked the Last boss from 39 Last night.
There are always challenges within the game that cannot be overcome despite upgrades of skills unless your level is way beyond and I do not like to trouble others all the time.0 -
A golem and a sawfly (exchange with the first foxwing if you wish) is all you need.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

ok a freind of mine level 76 veno and proboble the best veno i've met in pwi at pve uses volcanic magmite sawfly kowlin and the blue chicken from fb 59
i think she's up to -24% channel now and ive seen her tank fb 59 and do crazy things with sawfly damage
(seriously look up ChengTeng if your ever on sanctuary lol)
but she has the herc lust bad any easy way (other than gold) for her to get one?
yes veno's im in your forum stealing your tactics spying on you b:chuckle

I've been wrestling with the herc decision for some time. Part of me thinks: If i don't get the herc i will be gimping my char at higher levels and be considered a "charity case" by faction and friends. Other part thinks: I'm up for the challange that playing without the herc will bring. Probably make me a better player in the long run.
How you pay for one is very personal. If I get it, i will probably use rl $ as I have a full time job and grinding it would just be silly. I'm currently putting $10 a week aside in my sock drawer lol. It all depends on your circumstances.
New question though. What bothers me even more than the outragous rl cost of the thing (i can think of no other class that is required to pony up ~150$ just to remain truly competative) is the maintainance of it. Being that it does not take npc food, can someone tell me how much I'm looking at spending to MAINTAIN the herc once i get it. How many coins a week should i expect to have to pay?
thanks[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Maintaining a legendary pet isn't so bad, really.
You've got two choices - the first is to feed it. Meat retails in the auction house for around 5k, but fine meat and venison work out cheaper-per-loyalty point and can be easily farmed yourself.
But right now, if you want to buy food, the current cheapest method is probably cookies, made from tokens of normal luck, which cost about 20k in a catshop.
180k of tokens will buy you 5000 loyalty, which should keep you going for a while.
The second option is to buy a tome. Any old tome will do - the christmas (+1 crit) tomes are retailing at 750k, but you might be able to get a lower level charm for less due to the influx of both 'scroll of tome' and Mystical Tome Page from the anniversary box.
Note that the tome you can buy directly in the cash shop lasts only 1 week, all others are permanent. ALL tomes, whether they say or not, prevent the pets loyalty from reducing over time - so you only need to feed them at first and when they die.
If you're going to buy from cash shop, I advise working out how many tokens you need for the cookies and to craft a low tome and doing that.0 -
as i'm sure others have mentioned, the crystalline magmite is the best physical damage tanker (as far as capturable pets is concerned)
and the petite sawfly is the attack pet of choice with a not too awful bad speed (highest atk capturable flying pet) but it dosent have great defense/hp. a foxwing (starting lv3x?) may be a bit better if a higher defense air pet is wanted. (or the windwalking piggy, which i'd considered getting for a fly around picking mats pet before having got nix because it would stand up better to mob attacks while i was finishing picking the mat/herb)
and water pets: i have a highlands tortise (starting lv8) which has done everything i've asked of it and then some, excluding trying to kill a DOTD from mid-lower lv5x lol. if i were low lvl or if i get bored, i'll probably go back and somehow catch a lv5 tortise and raise it up.
as far as a magic def pet, i can only speak from the pets i've used a bit.. and my suggestion, although it may not be the best it is a tough lil booger lol...
shadou cub. pretty good Pdef and Mdef and a nice HP pool to work with.
although if i were to use this pet a good bit, i would decide on either taking off ream or pierce and replacing it with an agro skill (bash, roar, or mby an elemental bash) as this pet dosent already come with an agro skill and mobbing/questing is rather slow if the pet cant keep agro from ur attacks (hence the reason i changed my herc to bash and raised it to maxed for my lvl, lv3, after much deliberation.. but turns out its better to have an agro skill than no agro skill, but on the cub or evn the big bear, i'd suggest leaving pounce and swap one of its other skills.)
and btw: a note about that shadou cub...
its base lvl "tough" or whatevr it is (reduces xx% dmg for 15 sec or so?).. helped it survive the explosives in fb39.. n this was back when either i or it wasnt much higher lvl than the mobs in there. (yes, had herc but got bored n experimented w/ other pets in there lol)i'm pro all classes, and against none in particular..
but the age old QQ about venos is just that. OLD.
QQ'd about a nix lately? check out this thread n tell me who's "OP" lol..

does a tome also prevent loyalty loss from a normal pet? or is that just for the legendary ones?0

It doesn't really prevent from loyalty loss, but from hunger. No hunger = no loyalty loss unless pet die. If pet dies it will lose loyalty no matter do you have tome or not. It works on any kind of pets and mounts.0 -

how much does it cost to make any tome? (just any,... the cheapest that can be made)0 -
Varies by server, but around 500k or so (maybe a bit more) for a christmas tome.0
-
All tomes require cash shop items.
The cheapest would be the level 1 tomes, which need 3 fragments and 4 pages
Ah heck, here's the guide:

With the cost of gold, a christmas tome would run far cheaper than the pages to make a level 1 tome would.0

Except that needs 5 gold for the hammer...
Your best off getting a second hand one either way - and yes, they're selling pretty cheaply compared to the cost of getting them (because people are picking up better ones)
Oh! The cash shop items to craft a tome can be gotten via normal anniversary tokens - that might be a cheap option for you. (Need 20 tokens though, so maybe not.)0 -
20k tokens=400k pages, 500k gold=500k pages or 450k bought in bulk. It's a little cheaper but not much.
As for a christmas tome, I meant get one secondhand. People unload them for less as they get better tomes. I see them at 500-700 fairly often. If all you're after is the cheapest possible tome, it's by far the least expensive, you just need to ask around to find one (wc or something, the savings will still outweigh the tele cost).0
