Pets and Mounts

I am WAY confused about this whole thing. For starters, people keep using the phrases pets and mounts interchangably. I'll try and express this through straightforward questions so theres no ambiguity:

1) Are Venomancers the only class that can have pets? If not, how and when are they available?

2) What kinds of mounts are available (excluding the flying devices you get at level 30 or whatever)?

Bonus Question) I somehow picked up a quest in which I'm supposed to collect 10 "Signs of Speed", but I don't even know what they are. It's unrelated but if you can help me out thats great.

Venomancers have reliable access to combat pets. They can sell or give non-combat pet eggs to other players, but I think making those is complicated.

There are three types of ground-based mounts. Two horses can be purchased from vendors within major cities, at a fairly steep cost (2.4 million gold, I think) and with a level 40 base requirement. Another group of horses can be earned in exchange for the Dragon Quest rewards, with a level 40 base requirement. Finally, you can also purchase Cash Shop mounts through the Shop or from other players, which have a variety of speeds and level requirements.

There's a sage in major cities passing that quest out. Feel free to trash it, as he'll offer it at any time. I believe Signs of Speed are a random drop from certain event monsters, but I'm not sure they're even implemented yet, and you're unlikely to run into them within the next twenty levels or so.

No, that's the same type of quest als the one the gem merchant gives. It's soley to trade something for something else. Don't bother about it until later

I know that you can get panthers at lvl 40..most mounts have that requirement.
Aero's you can get a lvl 10, but those are really expensive. Best wait till your lvl 30 its this one is your main.
Like sword, or the night sky, I'll be there holding you, watching you cry.

badge of speed is the reward for completing the snake isle dungeon race (can do once per day, 3 time slots to try). 10 badges = 1 sign, and either can be traded for spirit points (badge = 2000, sign = 22000?)

ps. I may have sign and badge reversed, havent been ingame to check in a while.

Favorite opening line when entering a squad:
"Hi. So, am I the tank?"

BMs are probably my favorite dds around. They aren't squishy, usually respect and protect the cleric, and in spite of the seemingly constant suicidal impulses, don't get me killed very often.
