PW memory or hardware problems?

Edit : On another note, why has this thread been renamed to "PW memory or hardware problems?". It seems like an unfitting name since memory leaks have to do with the client, and not my hardware.
I've been noticing that PWI has this nasty memory leak. With all settings down it uses up 350-400k (This is on first start). If i am in a random town, let's say anglers village it will go to a maximum of 400 MB, and if i want to port to West Archosaur oh does it get nasty. I've seen PW run upwards to 1 GB used. Hell, right now it's using 762 MB, not even Age of Conan's memory leak was this bad and it's a more demanding game than PW! Another example, Resident Evil 5 uses less than 400 MB (A DX10 Game!) with the highest settings at 1600x900. Seriously, any developers want to shed some light on why your client is so terrible?
Tech Specs :
Currently running PW at 720p. All settings low except for distance.
CPU : Q6600 2.4 GHZ OC'd to 3.0 GHZ
GPU : 8800GT
OS : Windows 7 32-bit
Ram : 4 GB
720p : Lowest settings, Distances max
720p : Highest settings, everything up

You shouldn't overclock your CPU, that can cause errors with memory handling and other processes.
What version/date of your video driver are you running?
Latest one for your video chipset came out Oct 5th.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_winvista_32bit_191.07_whql.htmlDo you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

My video card drivers have been up to date since i got my computer last year. Also this memory leak has been around for a very long time. Everything's up to date, i underclocked to see if the problem persisted and it did. Right now it's at 2.4 GHZ which is stock and it still has a disgusting memory leak that only comes from these F2P games. With all the money you guys make off the anniversary packs can't you afford to optimize the client a bit?0 -

I can't speak for the developers, but I can ask you to please use a better tone or attitude when posting in the Tech Support Zone. We are here to try and help you b:victory
We have been watching the game clients on every patch on our test PCs on 7, Vista and XP and we do not have any issues. The game floats between 450MB-780MB of RAM usage.
We have not gotten the issue we did way back when, when it would go to 1.2GBs.
Try lowering all of the graphic settings, and turn off all of the effects and see what results you get.
On my personal workstation here in the office (nvidia GeForce 8600GT 1.2GB RAM, 2GB of system RAM, Vista 32bit), I have to watch out for max water and refraction being on, or else it jumps up the memory footprint. If I do max everything, it drops my FPS down to 14. I like a speedy FPS, so I drop everything but Texture, Distances, and Terrain, and do some tweaks to the nvidia control panel.
Our game engine is not a mild, low tech, low quality game engine. Changing a few settings can really ramp-up the memory usage.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

Yeah, most people don't understand this isn't a F2P game engine, the game engine was created for a P2P game which later became the F2P game we play now.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
of course game code could be shrinked but no company would do that. that's not a mistake of PWE. do you see any company hiring like 10 assembler coders instead of 3 or 4 high level (C++, C#) to make the game run slightly faster? I do not. Not even Microsoft does.
The PC i'm on right now has 768MB RAM and no swap file. runs PW properly though I can't afk with cat shop in west archo crowds. very fair to my thinking.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'll try to be a little less harsh. Also I understand that you're trying to help out but underclocking and updating video drivers won't fix a memory leak. But back on topic, if you read my first post thoroughly and see the pictures that i posted one with lowest settings and one with highest settings ranging from 760 MB to 910 MB used.
Pictures are below :

If this engine was made for a P2P game wouldn't they also optimize it for consumers so that they don't have this problem when it launched? How long ago was this engine made, and why isn't there any information about it on PWs Wikipedia page? Not to mention the fact that what you said "this game was created for a p2p game" has nothing to do with the topic at hand.
On another note, I can name P2P MMOs that don't consume this amount of resources on comparable settings.0 -

I HAZ ARRIVED >:O
tbh im still surprised pwi staff keeps blaming this issue on our end. Well wait no im not surprised <_<
I've been told its a Vista problem, (obviously not since the OP is using Windows 7) Ive been told its the graphics card problem.. Not the case cause some people with ATI have the same issue. Ive been told its my ISP and I should call them..
Stupid me calls them then im the one who gets talked to like an idiot, they just turn around and say its the client.
Sooooooo..... Fix the game plz. Thx.0 -

Its the same info, only with the October 5th NVidia Driver

That only displays brief system info and the brief video info. I mean please post your full dxdiag.txt file. so I can see if there is something else on your system going on.

The engine itself has been added to over the past 4 years, anyone who's worked with code knows how patches can break things and cause memory leaks.
The fact that adding to an engine can cause memory leaks is irrelevant, that point is that these leaks have not been addressed. Adding more things to an engine is no excuse to leave memory leaks in. I understand things break when new code is implemented but it should be a top priority to fix, no matter what it is.
PS. Let's stay on topic here. Admin this includes you :>.0 -

Sorry for taking so long to reply, I just had a mem leak malfunction issue with Firefox 3.5.3, which apparently decided to eat 93% of my CPU resources and cause all of my work windows to have a heart attack. So that had to go for now b:angry
ANYways...
Get the latest updates and drivers for your system/motherboard from here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3629205&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=11&submit.x=8&lang=en&cc=us
Get the latest video drivers for your system from here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_winvista_32bit_191.07_whql.html (If Vista 32bit)
See if you can find out if your system is overheating, or GPU is overheating. Check and see if your power supply is powerful enough for everything running on your system.
If you are having further issues, you might want to take your PC to a PC Tech and have them run diagnostics on your motherboard and system RAM, and perhaps system overall, to see if there is an issue there.
Hope that helps you some! b:victory
We are doing further testing in-house to see if we have any mem-hogging issues with the game client. Nothing above 7xxMB yet. These tests will take several days.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

just curious on a few things, when I select the "Download Drivers" on the home page of NVIDIA and I select my driver and have it search for newer versions, why doesn't the October 5th release pop up? Atm it states that I have the most current version.
Also with all of the options for my motherboard and everything that deals with HP, what do I need to update (if anything)? As far as I know by running windows update as regularly as I do, I should have everything updated to date.
Edit: maybe you can enlighten me on this <_< ive been getting this error for a while now trying to update NVIDIA Drivers
As you've seen in my dx diags, I DO have windows vista 32 bit. I am assuming the problem is on NVIDIAs side.0 -
Run dxdiag again, see if there is a "Save 64bit" or something similar button just to the left of the Save All Information button.
That will show you the 64bit info, and I think that button doesn't show unless it IS a 64bit system.
Your other error, I don't know what to think of it until we see more info.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

yea theres no save as 64 bit option, and I went to my device manager to try and look for a newer version that way, unfortunately something went really wrong as it was installing and i got 4-5 error popups. Now I have a Jan. 2008 version and I can't seem to update it, as I get that

Did you try uninstalling the video driver first?
Did you try installing the proper video driver, without using nvidia's upgrade/driver analyzer tool?
If your video chipset/card came with your PC, tyr using the drivers that came with the PC, and see if that helps.
You may need more in-depth help in person.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

>.< I did try to uninstall it via control panel, but I was having this issue before I did that today. And with the second question, Ive done nothing special except follow the steps on NVIDIAs website
Edit: I found a way to get it back to September 27th 2009th version... Guess Ill give up on the October version.0 -

Flash = evil. Plus all of our work tools that are browser based. FF hasn't been playing nice on my 32bit Vista machine the last few patches. No worries, Opera is playing nice.
@Bob
Sounds like your HP system isn't playing nice, and you may have more serious issues then what we see. You should get it checked out, and could be the cause for the memory and performance issues.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

Other people in my faction are having the same memory problem when i asked yesterday. About 4 out of 6 people that responded said their memory was around 800,000k at the time, which mine is usually at in quiet areas. The other 2 people said they were running the game around 200,000k.
Anyways, NVIDIA seems to have the most current version, but of a different date. I have a September 27th version of the same number (192.0.7?, im at work I can't look) and the October 5th version is the same 192.0.7. Anyways I think the problem was with firefox oddly enough. I tried to download the October 5th one through Firefox and I got that same error.
Right after that I tried it through IE, I don't know why it would make a difference.. I didnt get the error but it updated to the September 27th version, not the Oct. 5th ._. Highest Water setting seems less of a lag issue for me now tho, woohoo?
Edit: I've been googling that error about NVIDIAs setup saying I am not running Windows Vista 32 bit and came up with a surprising ammount of links of people having the exact same issue. The dates range from a few years back all the way to this current version. Im starting to think about switching my graphics card out to something different ._.0
