New players need duo advice, please.

My wife and I are going to be trying this game out, and she's hooked on the idea of the Venomancer. I was hoping to get some advice as to which other classes make the better duo partners, or what builds I might consider. Light cash shopping is likely to take place, though we try to be sparing with it.

I'm leaning somewhat towards cleric or archer, but that's just aesthetics. We know very little about the game, beyond maybe an hour's worth of browsing the site so far.

Any suggested duos and builds?

    barb cleric is my favorite, tank build barb + support cleric = awesome team.

    Also, pure mage wiz + pure dex archer would also be good.
    It's too bad but "free to play, pay to win"-sckye

    These "updates" are seeming more and more like downgrades.

    Either a second veno (two venos healing a pet will be a significant help for you, especially if you don't get hercs) or a wizard (dps mainly, passable player healing in the few situations you'll need it). The wizard will look really weak compared to the veno from the 20-70 range or so though.

    ok one thing must be said.

    if your wife is that hooked on veno then she is gonna want a herc and a nix, thats a 400 dollar cash shop purchase right off the bat. these are the 2 best pets in the game, and to be quite honest, if you dont have them, you're considered less of a veno.

    now as a veno, i prefer playing with bms. because if my pet dies they can usually save the day, and they make up for the veno's low damage.
    second pick for me would be a cleric i think. buffs and damage dealer, tho they're squishy, just like the veno.

    with that said, i have noticed that most of the venos i know marry archers. personally, i hate doing dungeons with an archer, but i guess im in the mainority in this case.

    now if she is willing to pick a different class, she should go cleric, and you can go bm, or barb.

    also be aware that if you choose 2 different RACES you will not be able to quest together until lvl 20. veno and barb are one race, cleric and archer are one race, bm and wiz are one race.

    I wish my alt was cleric. Pure mag veno = sufficient solo heal for cheap.

    Herc / Nix -in game coin: still easy!

    BM/Veno is a sexy combination. BMs are the best **** savers in the game for Venos (after barbs when they catch). A cleric might also make a good choice and they have skills that can save you if your pet dies. They can also heal you if you feel the need to tank.

    Herc/veno + cleric is a pretty good combo.
    I leveled up from lvl 1 with a cleric.. having buffs and a healer made doing instances alot easier. Not to mention.. resurrections when you need it. XD

    Best duo in this case: veno+cleric.
    Cleric buffs help a lot and also they have nice dmg, if pet can hold aggro. Later on you can duo TTs if your wife gets a herc, money maker. We must not forget the revive skill, which saves a lot of your xp when you screwed it up, or your partner in this case. Go for a cleric (mostly magic and some vitality so you won't steal aggro too often). Have fun!
    Forum trolls are **** beings who find pleasure in picking on other forum users,trying to bully them. Probably kids or antisocial people, feeding themselves with burgers,chips and soda, 23/7 in front of a PC, they are trying to release their frustration through moronic posts. My advice for them is:get a life (girlfriend,job,pet) or visit a **** site to release your anger and hate due to lack of parental love in childhood. Have fun!

    Thanks everyone for the advice. I've decided to go light armor cleric to her veno, on the grounds it might make it more likely for us to get invited into any activities requiring larger parties to accomplish.

    If anyone is inclined to clue us in for gotchas, build advice, or 'must have/nice to have' items and abilities (especially duo-specific skills to consider, genie builds), that would be very helpful. Otherwise, see you all in game. =)

    Also, I love teaming with a cleric or a BM if it's going to be just a duo.

    best advice anyone could give you is to read the stickies first, now im not being rude or anything, they just have so much information useful to bigginers like us, that is hard to top with just a few questions asked on this thread.

    i have not been a veno long enough to judge this, so maybe others here can comment on the viability of this combo.
    Heavy armor veno with arcane cleric. between veno and pet tanking and clerics high damage, healing, and buffing, this would seem to be a very successful combo.

    Kikito - go look in other threads. This is not the place to ask about rares.

    My HA Veno has hit a wall in her leveling. She's only going somewhere due to her dailies, which I sometimes forget to do. I don't have any clerics to squad her with so I don't know if it works. I might have to try it out though and get back to you on it.

    im interested to see how it goes, what level is your HA veno? my main is a cleric at 68 on HT. i'll run with you. the name is cardinalfang. (im so lazy, i really should just set up the name/icon thing)

    b:chuckle She's L49. I need to get a friend to help me with her cultis before I get too advanced in her levels again. Monday I'm going to see if she can solo BH29 that way I don't have to bug my friends to help me with it.
