Massive Lag

Ok, as of lately, I have noticed a considerable amount of server-side lag going on. It has recently gotten to the point that after I log in and kill 1 mob, my toon just stands there in combat stance (as if I had been disconnected from the server) but the game never logs me out. Also, when this happens, if I try to log out or quit to desktop, the game doesn't budge. So I then have to ALT+F4 to kill the client and the open task manager to kill the process.

When this was first happening to me, I thought it was my connection lagging cause my sister was online at the same time watching a movie. However, after she gets off (and I some time later) get back on, the problem still is there.

Prior to all this happening to day, I have enjoyed many many hours of PWI lag free (even in West Arch.). I would hate to have to quit (I've been playing since the CB) because of something silly like this issue.

And because I know it will be asked for, here is my dxdiag:

this is happening to me also....its very annoying and i dont know how to fix it. this has to be something with the server and not our connection. i havent been able to log in for over 8 hours >:C.

Yep, I've been getting this as well, especially two days ago, before the update. It did, however, changed for the better after, only now I can't even log in to the game b:surrender

I can open the patcher like normal now and it checks for updates like normal. It even starts the game like normal and pulls the announcement thing. However, now when I try to log in, it just takes me to the character selection scene with nothing there and "Create" is blacked out as though it's loading, but never actually loads. I have to then press ESC to go back to the login screen and proceed to exit the game.

Seeing as how many of us are having issues with the game, worldwide, it is not a connection problem. I'm from Israel and I'm experiencing the same difficulties :-/
Other friends from my faction can play, but not me. Probably server problem :-/

Well I live on the East Coast of America and I have an extremely good ping to the server (like 40 or lower depending on where I play at home or school). I live in North Carolina in the USA and still having really bad connection problems.

Clearly server issues. It can't be worldwide if it's a connection issue, otherwise it would be individual and not at the same time for everyone....

oh hey... someone from my neck of the woods!! Raleigh NC representing!!
tbh, i didnt actually play at all today, just did a CS and left the client up to see if any guildies logged on - which they didn't. so i played on the xbox. any rate, I've had several days where I was cursing the connection, logging in and out, resetting the router, rebooting the PC etc.. etc.. etc.. to no avail. Im talking 5 seconds worth of lag every two attacks. very annoying. and the kicker is that my sister (same ISP, same city) can be partied with me while her husband is playing on PSN - and she gets no lag. its baffling to say the least.

Israel ISPs and players from that area seem to have more networking issues then most players. I would say close to the same issues as New Zealand and Australia.

Contact your ISP, give them the info for our game servers (see the links in my signature below.), and find out if they throttle or block game traffic, among other things that you can ask them.
Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

Happens to me as well, and i am in the US. Althought I am not sure if it is caused by my ISP (pretty sure its not) or by the game client itself (probably) or something i have installed (which i looked everywhere.) I can only describe what its like.

Its like for 20 seconds I get a massive freeze where the screen and the game still work, but ever so slowly, and then it stops and won't happen again for about 9 to 10 minutes. I know its not a preformance issue because I have a very good graphics card and I also have everything turned down in the game (preformance wise) and it still does it. Can anyone confirm this?

Hi
I am playing this game from Singapore
The following tracert information shows the same bottle-neck irregardless of the time of day . .
It is most definitely NOT a client problem but a server and/or router issue
Would appreciate if someone can resolve this matter
Thank you

Unfortunately, it looks like your bottleneck is with Asianet, which is presumably an ISP over in that area, and there's very little we can do to resolve that. If they're the ISP you're using, you can try asking them for help.
try the following:

pathping pwi.perfectworld.com > c:\results.txt

it takes 6 minutes to finish and sends the results to c:\results.txt
it logs packet losses so it makes it easier to find the problem. when you post don't forget to remove non-english characters (forum restriction) and use
and

to post the results.
Thank you for the feedback . .
Unfortunately, that part of the network (as far as I can make out) seems to be the 'backbone' of another country's ISP. . .no way I can reach them to highlight the problem . .
Incidentally, I have tried to trace the lost packets using the pathping command. . .this is what I have found. .
