Protocol TCP (Any is fine too)
    From 29000
to 29000 (if it requires a range just do 29001)
Translate to (your local IP 192.168.1.???)
Again TCP or Any is fine
    29000

Oh, another one of those "routers" that doesn't do proper routing...

okay, looks like you only need to fill out the first three input boxes and those *should* let you put in 5 characters.

All first 3 input boxes should be 29000

    http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Thomson-Alcatel/SpeedTouch585/GameSpy_Arcade.htm

The reason I dislike those kinds of "routers" is it's not always forcing the incoming traffic on that one port to only one machine...

Did you do the rest of the process on that page after putting in the ports? If so, call the ISP and tell them to give you a modem that doesn't suck. b:chuckle

They do go bad just like everything else. We have a warehouse full of modems that used to work that no-longer do here.

But are you sure there's no software firewall installed that is blocking ports?

Well, if your ISP is anything like us, if they supplied the equipment they should have an upper tier support to assist you with port forwarding. Now you have the port # you need 29000.

You shouldn't need the trigger port in this case... but..

    Click the Assign a game....

Go down to the bottom, select the Perfect World in the first drop down box and your computer in the second, then "add"

Okay, it says logging is on? Can you look at the log and see what it says?

It might be waiting for your computer to send that port to "trigger" the thing (and it's probably using a random port to send out on...) so remove that and just put the port in the first 3 boxes.

Okay, see that check box where you turn it on? Edit the current one or remove/readd and use that to turn the logging on. Then find the way to look at the log and see what it tells you is going on, see if the router is even seeing the traffic at all

The check box next to the dropdown. This should start logging what happens when that port comes through, if it doesn't log anything then the router is not even seeing the traffic. I don't know where you view the logs though because we don't use Alcatels but there will be a page in the config somewhere to read it.

its say its on, but only way I can see traffic is to command prmt. and then i when i did it last time i forgot the command aaaaa to try connect, but i only get connection timeout.. wich is .. very very.. not good, I dont think any one form PWI tech support can tell much about this either, i bet if i put my XP instead of Vista i would get good results

Well then I would think it would be Vista's built in Firewall. Different network connections have different rules in a firewall.

Yar but there should be like a committee of crappy routers and such with it's only goal being to throw teh ban hamster at crappy router manufacturers & developers. I had to spent an entire week researching routers to try and find one that doesn't **** out on you within a year...

i am a bit disapointed.. i just saw this conclusion on

    http://www.portforward.com/help/portcheck_help.htm

About How Bad Software Firewalls Are

We help 100's of people forward their ports every day, and there is one common problem that we run in to EACH AND EVERY DAY. That is the fact that many software firewalls simply do not work as advertised. We have seen the following bad or buggy behavior multiple times over:

Software firewalls that report that a port is forwarded, but still do not allow an incomming connection to be made.
Software firewalls that prevent our tools from working even though you have created a rule to allow them.
Software firewalls that act flakey, and sometimes just seem to randomly quit allowing traffic through.
Software firewalls that must be UNINSTALLED to allow incoming connections.
We have even had users who still could not open their port after uninstalling their software firewall, but were able to get it to work on a seperate computer with a fresh installation of windows.

I think PWI support should really let all of Players know that software is prob
i think in this case vista firewall i got updated in some of the win updates

Yes, software firewalls are pretty buggy. Heck, back when I started doing network security ZoneAlarm if you tried to disable it or remove it would block ALL TRAFFIC!

Well, here's the thing. Now that I'm home and can be in game... 29000 is the outgoing port, not an incoming port. The port that traffic is coming back in on is a random port. 29000 is not listening on my computer yet I'm in game fine. I also don't need port forwarding in my router to play, and I didn't have to tweak anything when I was using Vista or now that I'm using 7. I know you've swapped OS back and forth a few times recently, have you ever tried to install/launch PWI first thing before installing anything else? (except windows updates of course). If you check between each program you install that might mess with the network you can figure out if one of them is causing it.
