umm... I don't think there needs to be a sale on anything actually. If you have a sale on one thing - it'll drive the price of another thing up. and here's the reason -- if a CS item goes on sale, people immediately want to buy it at the lower price. So what happens is the gold sellers will up their prices in anticipation of increased demand for gold... the people wanting X item that is on sale may still be getting it cheaper than before, coinwise, but typically not. however, the items that are not on sale also now cost more coin to purchase.

if you really want a CS item and can't sling upwards of 300k (dreamweaver gold prices) for one gold, and don't have the RL money to spend... do some of the free zen offers.

now, battle pet packs currently cost 50 silver - if you average 25 sof/nix feathers per pack, then 1 gold will yield 50 on average. If gold sells for 300k, your paying that times 1.02 (gold trading fee) = 306k. This brings unit price (coinwise) to approx.. 6120 coins. Thats "on average" according to OP's figures. half that if you are lucky and get 50 per pack. 15.3 k apiece if all you get is 10 per pack.

Calculate all you want - the distribution isn't even, and over 20,000 total feathers/SoF you get a pretty clear demonstration that the average is something like 26.5 (Or maybe I got lucky, I'm willing to believe it is actually 25, it's certainly in the range 25-27)

Gold has dropped back to 330-350k on my server, making a 'rational' price for a SoF/feather around 7k.
Paying more than that would indeed be a mistake.

Now, at Sanctuary server, Gold price is around 300k - 1Gold u can buy 2packs and S/F each unity are at 7k -10k u must drop more than 30S/F to get a profit.
Then sometimes will worth and sometimes u lost coins during the Gold price didnt raise again.

You can get 10 to 50 SoF/Feathers per pack, so it's

(10+20+30+40+50)/5 = 30

I'm not quite sure if the chances are even, but you should calculate with 30 per pack in average.

It's not an even distribution, the average is 26.8 per pack. I'm not sure what gold is right now, someone was telling me 340k. If that's the case you're looking at 340000*1.02/26.8/2=6470.149254 coin per SoF/Feather for the break even point, or 6471+ on a catshop is more expensive than you would pay just buying gold.

Oh, if you buy gold with coin to get a pet, don't bid at a price with more than 10 gold on it (maybe 15), this includes the bids you place as well. If you go above that people will simply bid over you, and the end result is a temporary increase in gold prices. Staggering bids is your friend, you'll pay less for the gold and less in listing fees.

Sales make it 30 silver rather than 50 silver per pack.
