Resistance build up

I recently lost most of my gear so im building my wizzy back up, my damage is back to where it should be, but my resistance, im not sure about it :P

my base res would be 4132, im missing my sleeves though so once i have my sea captain sleeves im hoping it'll jump up there some more.

Thing is I remember having 7k base res in everything back before it all got taken, anyone know what might be the problem?
Wiz: Joins squad
Wiz: Wiz is silent... <--code of honor kill quick and leave without saying a word.
Wiz: Stays in back incase they pull aggro (better for mob to run towards you then to be next to you, gives squad time to pull aggro from you)
Wiz: Wiz happens to pull aggro
Wiz: Wiz stands ground
Wiz: Wiz kills mob/ or is killed by mob
Wiz: Honorable death is seen by squad

    Buffs.
    I have 7.2k base res with full 90/99 gear, ~5k sounds about right

    Then im hoping for those sleeves to get me up a good 900 res :P
