Hey,

i am wondering why a barb has such a huge dmg output in comparison to a cleric.

Both lvl 72. both "equal" equip..
Tank: "full" vit
Cleric: "full" mag

We killed lvl 72 monsters in exactly the same time...i though a cleric would deal some more damage compared to a barb cuz a barb is normally a typical non damage dealer...

And cleric is support. What is it you're missing?

I would expect the cleric to kill faster in this case. Assuming both players were using non-ultimates (ex. spark/59 ultimates). That is unless the barb did a zerk+crit.

depends not only on the builds of each character, but also the skills each specialize in.

    ie.
Full support cleric will specialize in the heal/buff tree(s) and their attack skills will still be lower, but a full attack cleric will specialize in attack skills rather than heals and buffs - therefore will have a higher damage output.

I can only speak for myself, but I spec up my barbs true form tree first with the humanoid tree as an afterthought if there is any spirit left over (at this point, usually not at all) so my damage dealing abilities are lower than a barb who specs up humanoid first and little to true form.

    the reasoning is simple
barb hits 2.5-3.5k every .91 seconds
cleric hits 5-7k every 2 seconds *more if target is far away*

    in this case
barb will do between 27,450 - 38,430 dmg in 10 seconds
cleric will do between 25,000- 35,000 dmg in 10 seconds

Im pretty sure full vit barbs dont hit that high at lvl 72. Unless you were considering skills for the barbarian, but that would make the attack time longer, not 0.91s/attack.

I came up with this cuz i've read in this forum that a full mag cleric deals almost the same damage as a full int mage...and i suppose that those chars should deal more damage as a tank.

Doesn't it also depend upon the mob? Clerics typically won't do as much damage to phys mobs as they do to magic mobs...or am I completely mistaken?

well.. plume shot deals physical damage
and they've got a metal tree of attacks as well. If the cleric is using metal against metal, it may well take longer than a barb going physical on the same metal mob.
