I am wondering if there are any standards that players must adhere to?

There is outright cursing in WC ( yeah yeah free speech )

Scammer Cat shops abound, taking advantage of icons that are identical
( wine icon identical to shell powder, and others, etc) - Yes I know
"Buyer Beware".....

People impersonating others in the game and making a guild or another player look bad by association.

Guilds named after terrorist organizations. ( very lame)

Despite submitting trouble tickets about Cat shop scams over by Head Hunter and Wine Merchant, nothing was ever done......they were back each day.

I could go on but......I will say my teens are off this game and back to another.

Some warnings and swift IP bans will go a long way to make the game more enjoyable and less irritating. But there seems to be a total lack of attention or follow through unless money or hacking is involved............

Does nobody care about these things?

They claim to enforce rules, and occasionally you'll see a "why was I banned" thread pop up here (which will be swiftly told to send a ticket, and then locked), however they don't announce bans or any disciplinary actions for the most part.

    simple answer is

    no.

dirty names, foul language, guilds named for cruel things, various sins, you name it, it goes. tickets with screen shots have accomplished nothing, even when you point out the relavent parts of the TOS to them, nothing is solved. last year, when i joined, right after the game started, the GMs were right on the job, and would nail foul mouthed players instantly, respond to tickets and solve problems...but by december, they no longer did...

to play and stay, you have to do a certain amount of lowering of your own standards, and keep your children off, if they are young enough to be affected by the immorality here.

everything u just mentioned are tos violations if i am correct. seen a few myslef included get a ban for charging zen but never for tos violations. there are several high lvl players using names that are not allowed if u go by the actual rules pwi has set out in their tos .

To be honest, a couple of corky guild names, immature brats on world chat, and scammers really arent that big a deal. They are in a supply countable upon the digits of your hand, you speak as if the administration takes lightly to discipline, yet notice, this game is for the most part, bot free. Alot of the ones that get caught end up banned, those who deal in major disruptive shenanigans recieve punishment, etc. It's not as if the game is free of ignorantly bliss players/moderators not caring about these, theyre just not really issues, and the only time they are, are when players feel the need to bring attention to themselves to rant upon it.

These topics have been beat to death, and we understand peoples concerns, but really there is no point in gallavanting around calling out the GMs as uncaring. Just deal man.

Then pwi just erase the rules/tos then since none of that is important.

The foul language itself isnt an issue. In fact, they should remove the word filter for the masses and add a parental lock feature for those worried about their children 'as optional'.

Waffle, do you really believe scamming on a massive scale or pretending to be some other player to destroy the reputation and therefore lowering the chances of a faction to grow are minor inconveniences? These are problems GMs should adress imediatly, not sit around doing nothing but blocking free speach on forums.
The game has been infested by scamming on a large scale. From here to looking away towards botting/hacking is a small step.

Dont really see why you care about swear words- you should know their meaning by now and not really care,or if you dont you shouldnt even be using the internet.... I have played a lot of mmorpgs and I'm willing to put up with some scammers, who are just using your own stupidity against you, versus having hackers, who make the game unfair.

They claim to enforce rules, and occasionally you'll see a "why was I banned" thread pop up here (which will be swiftly told to send a ticket, and then locked)

Those have been extremely dodgy, usually involving someone getting a ban for something like "being disconnected to often" or "submitting a ticked about being ****/scammed" followed by a very swift locking and permanent delete of the thread, without any gm confirmation whatsoever that pwi do not lock accounts for whatever silly reason was posted.

This buyer beware thing baffles me. I can see some of these players here finding it completely fair imposing $200 fines on anyone enjoying a relaxing or fun pastime and not paying complete and absolute 100% attention. If scamming millions off someone is fine, then millions in fines should be imposed on people causing party wipes, or falling asleep in rb/tt.

It spoils the gaming experience for another player. It should be dealt with.

I have played this game since closed beta, but have watched as things deteriorate that are well within the control of GM's. I realize for instance, they cannot check each cat shop, etc but certainly can do some quick follow up when given specific info. I wasted my time writing a trouble ticket only to watch the cat shops I named show up day after day. The official response was basically " Hey be carefu!" -(which by the way I do agree with)
Simple solution to these types of scams make every icon unique- this is really not that difficult, yet PW uses the same icon for several uses. Come on this is not some noob game in closed beta, plenty of money is clearly being made in cash boutique

Yes we can put up with some swearing ( blacklist is great for those morons), yes we can avoid the scammers by being more vigilant, yes we can lower our standards and tolerate the PW trash players who come in to scam on their alts. If IP bans were used the incentive to scam would be removed, they would lose their main account as well...If PW would enforce some levels of decent behavior by players then word would get out that GM's are watching for certain things again and inapproriate behavior will be dealt with.

This would improve the game experience for the rest of the players, and help ensure the $$$ coming in for PWI ( which is the sole reason this game exists )
Cracking down on those who really lower the standards would be smart business for PWI.

Lots of others games have swift GM response to problems, I'd like to see more of that here. I won't lower my standards, I will have to lower my expectations to keep playing. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, and there is plenty of things good about it.

We do actually respond to a lot of reports, but I would venture a guess and say that plenty of players may see bad behavior and not report it. There's a lot more we can do with 4 reports about something than we can do with only one.

Take the time to send us some screenshots, and we'll be more than happy to look into it. You may have to do this multiple times, but that's because we try to be fair and give warnings for first offenses.

If IP bans were used the incentive to scam would be removed, they would lose their main account as well...

Here is a good example of how knowing a little is more dangerous than not knowing anything....

You do realize that there are way to re-route IPs, right? And that some places have only a couple of public IP addresses even though they service hundreds or even thousands of people?

Let me give you an example.
You are a hard working straight A college student on the honor rolls. You work 20 hours a week and go to school full time. With your spare cash, you spend an average of $400 a month on PWI and you have a level 100 character.

One day you try to log in, and you can't. When you email support they say your IP has been banned for catshop scamming, although your character has done nothing wrong.

Meanwhile, at PWE support, they get dozen and dozen of emails from people asking why they got banned under the same IP.

Since they were all playing from the university network, the IP ban on ONE player, ended up banning dozens and dozens of other innocent players.

Meanwhile, the person that had the catshop scam and that was banned, created a new character, change the setting on his IP routing software, masked his MAC address and set up a new shop again, totaly unfazed by the IP ban.

That is why, IP bans are not done except in extreme cases.

They relaxed the filter somewhat a while back, as it was too strict. I still remember the old Legendary game of discovering innocent words that get banned. Such as you could not say spoon, it would be s****. We had a whole list of them.

Some curse words aren't filtered, because they aren't actually that harsh. And if your kids go to public school, they have definitely heard worse. The ones they should go after would be people who add a . in between, or change a letter to a number to bypass the filter. They could have easily just called someone a *****. Instead they show they know they are doing something wrong by purposefully bypassing a feature, just to tantrum their anger at someone. That would be ban worthy, and they can't say they didn't know.
