Bramble and aggro

So there seems to be an argument that bramble guard draws aggro. I've never ever seen anything to warrant those claims, but it's coming from a faction leader of lvl 80+. What do you guys think? I really don't want to go around pissing people off, but I don't believe everything I hear especially when NO ONE else has ever brought this up, even high levels.

Bramble does hold aggro pretty well. It is impossible for bramble alone to "draw" aggro as bramble only applies when you or hercules is being hit. Therefore, bramble is a good tool to use to HOLD aggro, not draw/start aggro. it is proven with hercule's bramble and pet heal. Heal draws aggro, and if herc has bramble on, mobs will aggro herc, not you.

So not the other players in the squad then? They were trying to tell me all the clerics and wiz's would get aggro too despite the tank having a herc. So basically bramble will only hold aggro to the tank. What if someone else has a higher damage rate? It would seem that they could draw aggro that way anyway bramble or no, right?

Bramble generates aggro on mobs that are meleeing you. If the mob is not meleeing you, then bramble is a non issue. However, when a squishy gets aggro bramble will generate more aggro on meleeing mobs and thus make it harder for the tank to get aggro back especially if it's a Herc tanking. Some will say that the extra damage from Bramble would make killing the mob easier, but I think that's a horrible trade-off. I'd rather make it easier for the barb/herc to regain aggro then to get an extra couple hundred points of damage from bramble.

No... bramble will HELP to hold/generate aggro. Having bash + bramble will generate more aggro. However, if the DDs outdamage the hercules by a lot, then they will still steal aggro. Meaning, a lvl 50 herc with bramble will lose aggro to any decent level 100 wizard. Also, the tank IS the herc in this case. The only time that bramble (casted on the DDs) will HELP the DDs steal aggro from the tank is when the boss has a physical AOE.

Also, herc is NOT god. He can and will die. He sucks at aggro compared to a real barbarian tank.

The aggro from bramble, is the damage done from the reflect. Since bosses hit hard, reflect is more aggro on them. On normal mobs, they don't hit all that hard, as a result bramble aggro is rather weak.

i think its more your squad telling you not to cast bramble on clerics and wizards because they are squishy and bramble will make it that little bit harder for your pet/barb/bm to take the aggro back/off them

However, sometimes clerics and wizzys wants you to bramble them, even in squads where there is a tank. So usually I only bramble bms and barbs in squads unless they ask for bramble. I don't even bramble myself to be honest...

Brambles do hold aggro. I'm always putting it on myself, as I tend to tank things in Fox Form. I've ended up holding aggro on Bosses, even over DDs, tanking with my BG, and attacks. Hurts like an SoB to do it... But when the time calls for it... Granted, now I have a Herc, and don't do it as often, but even regular mobs sometimes have to be Foxed. Silly parties not wanting to pull single mobs in FBs... b:chuckle

I hear you there... I usually go into Fox Form so I can use stunning blow. That several second freeze gives the party enough time to blast them.

Too bad about 1 % venos understand that bramble is for aggro holding, not damage dealing:s Some time ago our squad got almost wiped thanks to other veno who brambled cleric. And when the cleric stole aggro accidentally...

i will say this, when i am playing as a veno i use this skill only on barbs and BM. sometimes i will just see a barb pr BM pass me and i will put bramble on them just so they have the skill. in a squad mod just use it on the TANK of your party cuz he/she is the one that will need to hold aggro the most. which in most cases is a barb that will be tanking a boss. now in a FB, BH, TT i bramble the barb and BM in the squad.

Alpha Male is the bane of my existence. That's the only other thing I'm going to say about bramble.

Try explaining to a high level cleric that brumble on him will not reduce the damage he takes.. than wait 10 minutes for him to come back after he wants to "proves" his point and ends up reviving in town....
Unfortunatly, happens too often.... Personaly, I only brumble the tank and backup tank, if there is one.

Once upon a time, there was a level 40 veno (no not me). She was near the archosaur elder and decided that she is going to be nice to people and cast her level 4ish bramble on everyone around the elder! Yes, including clerics, wizards, clerics, and other venomancers nearby waiting for rebirth.

I seriously didnt know what to say. "omg noob, dont bramble us"?
(ps, I dont really like explaining why)
