Mat upgrading

Forgive me if this is a n00b question, but is it possible to upgrade mats? For example, if I have # "coal dust", is there an npc or area I can take them to combine them into "coal", in the same way you can combine gems?

    From the pwi database i think combining mats to manufacture higher grade mats may have been a feature in the MY version, how ever it is not possible to combine mats to make higher grade mats in PWI

    Gems/shards YES
    Gems and shards can be combined by the Jewelcraftsmen. Shabby shards can be purchased from the Merchants for 530 coin and average shards from the jewel craftsmen for 60,000 coins. Take your shards to the jewelcraftsman and select Combine.

    Ya, I knew about the gems... I was just hoping to find a use for all that pig iron and coal dust since I've seriously started my tailor skills... darnb:sad

    Honestly, i think this would be a great idea!

    Something like
    5 Coal Dust = 1 Coal
    5(10) Coal = 1 Anthracite(sp?)
    etc..

    That would be awesome! Maybe require some kind of material to do the combination or what not, like a mixing agent or something, i dunno.
