Heaven's Flame Question

I've been playing, and recently I've come across a perplexing scenario: there are two separate animations for Heaven's Flame.

There's the normal one:

then there's a second one that I've called "Bright", where the dragons eventually become incredibly bright and turn into a tornado, essentially.

So my question is: do these different animations matter? Or are they just different appearances? I notice that the "bright" version happens relatively rarely.

Anyone have an answer for me? Please and thank you.

I've noticed this as well, but never really paid attention to whether anything special happens.
I will not hesitate to beat you over the head with your own stupidity.

I've asked the same thing before and it seems that no one really knows.

I first saw this when I added axes skills and was AoE grinding. At first, I thought that it was timing my Cleave after HF. But then when I tried to show it to a friend on a mob, it wouldn't work. From what I've experienced so far, it goes off when you have a lot of aggro on you, say, more than 10 mobs and you use any AoE attack after HF. This is easy to see and happens alot in Rebirth if you Roar or Alpha (as long as Barb doesn't take aggro back) before you HF then do an AoE after. Not sure about any change in dmg etc. probably just the animation.

i dont know why is that, but i have it too pretty poften. no special effects imo

using highland after dragons ends up in that a bit more than other skills i think

there is something similar to to this with the Myriad Sword Stance as well. It will do the normal animation then like twice as many swords will come raining down and then they all go back up. I thought it happened wen you did a crit with it but guess thats not right lol

See its black and white now. It means I quit! How poetic and stuff.

So the overall opinion is just if you have a lot of aggro on you the animation changes, but no particular statistical difference?

it's a graphical error based on lag

notice in the first picture you only hit 5 mobs, but in the other 3 you hit 10. the more you hit the more your pc will slow down, and then make the animation last longer than it should - at this point the client is just replicating the dragon animation throughout the normal duration of the skill, causing it to glow bright because of the very hot orange used for the colour

How would that explain other people seeing it though?

I'd asked if the cleric I was AoE-ing could see it, and she said yes. I asked a few other people as well if they saw it when it came up for me, and they all agreed.

it's possible that you all lagged when so many were hit. sometimes I see it when I have a lot running on my pc and nobody else does, sometimes others see it and I don't. it's entirely client-sided. maybe if they're close to the ring of monsters being dragoned(which is when I see it), they'll feel the same latency as the one using it
